HBO hit two home runs this summer with Succession and Sharp Objects.

Also, am I still the only one around here that has dipped into Castle Rock? Because that show is a ton of fun.

I just started that yesterday. The first episode has me intrigued although they're going to have to pick up the pace a little to keep me.

I heard not great things about Ozark and I kinda want something lighter than BB. I loved End of the F World.

I couldn't get into Succession. 2018 is not the time to have a show trying to make me care about the plight of billionaire white families, especially ones with zero characters worth rooting for.

I made it halfway through the second episode of Sharp Objects and decided I didnít care at all about any of it.

After a full season of watching the show, I don't think that is what the show is trying to do. Also, I don't know that the show doesn't have characters worth rooting for the show has really developed over the back five episodes and peeled back a lot of layers on the characters. I don't need characters to root for though.

Frankly, I don't care what a show is about. If it is well written, well acted and well directed I am up for it. Succession does all of these things. It does what the all time great shows do, be really dramatic and really funny (show runner is from Veep and In The Loop and its produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell).

Man, I love it. I love a show with a really heavy tone like this. The editing is terrific, though I know it is something other people probably hate. I'm also an Amy Adams mark.

Trailer for Maniac which stars Emma Stone, Jonah Hill and Justin Theroux. Directed by Fukunaga. Looks incredible.

I started the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel this morning. Only got through 2/3 of the pilot but it's cute so far. Huge crush on the main actress ever since she was on House of Cards.

Yeah, Maisel is terrific. Was in my top five shows of 2017.

The Ringer has an oral history of "Ozymandias", what should have been the #1 greatest TV episode of the 2000s.

Re: The "TV shows that don't warrant their own thread" thread

Iím surprised that no one has mentioned these yet.

Better Call Saul - From the beginning, Iíve thought that the Mike/Gustavo prequel threads were good stuff, but the Jimmy-Kim relationship has been the most satisfying part of the show for me. Obviously, most fans seem to disagree with me, and the show's been filling the gap left by Chuck's death with more drug-cartel machinations (which makes it still a darn good show). And for those of my bent, they gave Kim the best scene sheís ever had. Iím enjoying this.

Lodge 49 - Itís The Big Lebowski without Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, the Coen Brothers, great supporting actors, and everything else that made the movie so great. Itís also Thomas Pynchon without Thomas Pynchon. I watched the first episode, saw no reason to watch the second.
