Dustin Fowler has been promoted so we'll see him this weekend at Yankee Stadium.

I had a partially torn tendon that was surgically repaired as I wanted to avoid a complete tear. Doing so once is awful, but having a complete tear twice really sucks.

Tommy John surgery for Jason Groome, Boston's top prospect, out for 2018 and part of 2019.

If he has the surgery today, add in 14 months, and he's not ready until the beginning of next August. And most Minor League seasons end in early Sept.

2019 becomes a wasted year, even if he gets innings in the Arizona Fall League.

Hunter Greene's performance through 5 starts and 9.2 IP at Dayton is difficult to process. He has 16.8 SO/9, yet:

    13.97 ERA
    3.21 WHIP
    19.6 H/9
    9.3 BB/9
    Jaret Wright's 2005 Cy Young Season: 20-3, 3.04 ERA

To put those numbers into a simpler prospective:

He is striking out better than 2 per inning. At the same time, he is giving up 2 hits and 1 walk per inning. He also is giving up 3 runs per 2 innings. That's basically what the Yankees have been doing to every team's late-game 'pen over the past couple of weeks.

Maybe he should consider sticking to hitting..........

    Re: Another team's prospects thread

He's been overshadowed by Vlad Jr, Acuna, and his own injury to start the year, but Eloy Jiminez has been rampaging through AA since he came back, to the tune of a 193 wRC+.

    MLB Pipeline @MLBPipeline May 9
9 straight games with multiple hits for #WhiteSox top prospect Eloy Jimenez! 2-for-3, 2 2B for @BhamBarons.

For context, there have only been 14 longer streaks in @MLB history. Record is 13 by Rogers Hornsby (1923).

Eloy will be linked to Gley once they're both in the bigs. Hard to imagine regretting having GT over Eloy going forward. Both special, though.

Juan Soto destroyed A+ this year, got the aggressive promotion to AA, and doubled and homered in his first two PAs in tonight's debut. He has been on an epic rampage.

He's actually been great since he started playing professionally in 2016. Hi average, BP, Slugging, relatively low K rate. In 115 Minor League games, at several levels, he has 55 walks and 59 Ks. In over 450 PA.

Scout at the Fort Wayne had this to say regarding MacKenzie Gore: 94-95 FB with average life. Command was scattered but should be average in future. Fringy breaking ball with a plus changeup as go-to pitch. Future No. 4 starter with a chance for a little more. #Padres

Dude might be the best SP prospect in baseball and anon scout slaps a Future #4 starter on him... Riiight.

To be fair, Lucas Giolito held that title for a couple of years and he is increasingly looking like a dud.

Homer Bailey and Phil Hughes also say hi.

I fail to see the relevance.

Gore is a minor leaguer who arguably has the best stuff and overall prospect package among farm starting pitchers. Oh, and he's a LHSP. Calling him a #4 starter now would be like scouts calling Hughes, Homer, Giolito a #4 when everyone who saw them at AA and labeled them consensus Frontline talents. It's not like Gore suddenly became a pumpkin coming back one start after a blister injury... He's also not a flamed out MLer... We're talking about prospect evaluation here. I'd love to meet the guy who puts a #4 grade on Gore.

I am absolutely terrified of Vlad Jr. and how he'll likely annihilate Yankees pitching for years.

Young Bo hasn't yet taken off this year but he was Kraken-like last season.
