Too bad the yankees will use the rest of their pool to sign ohtani... maitan will probably be the consolation prize for the teams that lose out

They also expect to lose infielder Kevin Maitan, who received $5M, but the new order Braves are not concerned, feeling Maitan was no worth the money or the hype.
The 17-year-old Venezuelan was signed to big fanfare but he didn’t exactly have an impressive first season as a professional. Apparently, that was enough to convince the Braves that they may not have a budding superstar yet and according to Peter Gammons, the new front office in charge may not be too worried about losing Maitan if it comes down to it.

I highly doubt Gammons has seen one game that Maitan has been in, either live or video... scouts across the board still love him, and I suspect the competition to sign him will be tough

Braves are losing prospects. Maitan will probably be one of them.

Major League Baseball has informed several Braves prospects that they will meet with them on Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple sources. The players will either meet with league officials in person in the Dominican Republic or be informed of what's happening by phone.

MLB has been investigating the Braves' international signings, with the team expecting to lose multiple players they signed in recent years. While few specifics have come out regarding what rules MLB has determined the Braves violated and what sanctions the team will face, given that MLB has called a meeting with the players for tomorrow, those details should emerge soon.

Poor ownership can hold a baseball team down for years!
