    Re: Another team's prospects thread

While a few insanely obsessed fanboy opinions stated as facts of life by certain people can be abboying, I don't dislike Littell as a person so I'm not going to laugh at him yet. That being said, I've always believed had he not been traded he wasn't going to be put on the Yankees 40-man anyway, so I doubt he would've clogged the 40-man either way.
If anything, had he not been traded he probably would've been in the same boat as Gomes/Ford/whoever else that might be plucked in Rule V in best case scenario for him, only to have returned like all the other Rule V guys.

And speaking of notable prospects traded within the last year and a summary of their first month...
Blake Rutherford (21 next week) - In 63 ABs hitting .349/.386/.460 with 15K and still no HRs in high-A.
    Ian Clarkin (23) - 4.57ERA 21.2IP 25H 8B 11K in AA
Dustin Fowler (23) - .In 83 ABs hitting 295/.325/.372 in AAA.
Jorge Mateo (22) - In 73 ABs hitting .178/.218/.233 in AAA.
James Kaprielian (24) - Still recovering from TJ. Probably start in High-A

It only has been a month, but it is quite impressive that even with hindsight included there is not one prospect that the Yankees would've really wanted to redo if they could. I still would rather bank on Gray rebounding than having Fowler as the 5th OF right now.

Well, the bottom line will be if and when a desperate Twins team brings him up to try to help, they gave up 15 runs to the Reds tonight.

Beastly peripherals. He's pitching in the best hitters park in AA.

Twins DFA Dietrich Enns for 40 man space, he only lasted about 35 innings for them between the end of last season and the start of this one. He turns 27 in a few weeks, curious where he winds up or if he just goes back to the Twins as a non-40 man guy. He has a career 2.01 ERA in over 400 minor league innings, baseball is a tough business.

Wow, his last two games were very good too, bad BB and K numbers but impressive overall results.

    7 2 1 1 4 4
    6 4 1 1 1 1

I'd have to think he would be a Scranton rotation upgrade if we could get him back.

I think he's better than David Hale who they just sign again for SWB.

Is there an open spot on the 40 man roster? Hale is only on a minor league deal.

No - Hale's was DFA'd to put A. J. Cole on the roster.

No. Probably will get a call-up to replace Monty (even if it's only a 10 day DL). Then waived again.

If he gets the call-up, move Ellsbury to the 60 month, errrrrrr.......60 day DL.

    Why? Give German the start.

Hale is AAA depth for about the ninth starter spot at best.

Was not clear. Of course German gets the start(s) in Monty's place. Hale becomes the little-used 8th reliever, like German was. Then, when someone comes back and a spot is needed, he gets cut, and goes through the whole Waiver/FA procedure again.

Watched James Kaprielian and Daulton Jefferies throw a sim game this morning. Kap was 91-93 t94, curveball flashed plus, change 55, no clear slider/cutter vs hitters but he warmed up with it.

I'll add a couple from the Drury trade who I'd love to still have in the system.

    Taylor Widener (AA): 5 G, 20.2 IP, 14 H, 11 BB, 36K, 3.05 ERA

    Nick Solak (AA): 25 G, .322 / .418 / .433 / .852, 1 HR, 22 K, 16 BB, 143 wRC+, .400 BABIP

Vlad Jr with 2 more HRs today including one off a hotel. He entered today with a 200 wRC+ at AA.

Yanks gonna have to face that kid 19 times a season, and probably later this season.

Probably never got fully healthy. Poor kid. I was hoping so much for him to make it when he was drafted.

    Oh well. That's Baseball, Suzanne.
