Is Colt Griffin still in the KC system? That kid had filthy stuff.

If filthy stuff means a fast fastball. Glad they are drafting better. Those WalMart people need something to go right for them in their lives.

Killer Bs: Betances, Banuelos, Brackman, Bleich

    Re: Another team's prospects thread

I doubt I can persuade, but read around and you'll see how highly regarded the Red Sox player development system is right now. The Red Sox are at least two years ahead of the Yankees, and their depth shows it.

Yankees have some really high end talent with Montero, Sanchez, and probably Banuelos. After that there's a couple solid talents who I like as starters in Adams and Romine. Then there's Brackman and Betances in the pitching department, plus a couple interesting guys like Bryan Mitchell and whoever else. Then there's a bunch of future relievers, 4-5 starters, and utility guys. It's kind of a hit that Sanchez and Banuelos are the next best prospect. I like Banuelos alot but he's got size questions. Sanchez is a big time UDFA or w/e who is years off.

The Red Sox don't have a prospect in the class of Montero, but there's guys with Sanchez type upside who are at least 2-3 years away (Fuentes profiles as a legit 5 tool CF, Bogaerts at SS)...As far as pitching goes, there's no system in baseball with more pitching than the Red Sox. It starts with Kelly but then there's Weiland, Fife, Wilson, Britton, Pimentel...Younginer is really interesting and a high profile prospect.

That's just what I feel over what I've read the past couple years. Yankees still aren't quite there with the Sox, though their financial power allows them to move up at a fast pace. They're still a 10-20 team in the farm system race, while the Red Sox will probably be in the top 5 in most offseason rankings.

Pretty wrong IMO. Sox have more position player depth and the Yankees more pitching. Its pretty clear the Yankees have a slightly better system at this point

Leaves out Betances, pimps out Kelly, and questions Manny's build. Dude is a moron.

That quote doesn't mean anything as we have no information as to the credibility of its author. It's also straight garbage.

I'm just utterly shocked how overrated Kelly is. Where does he get all this hype. It's unbelievable

when asked about a potential adrian gonzalez deal, law says he wouldn't be willing to send a top prospect like casey kelly to san diego since gonzalez is just under contract through 2011. "casey kelly is not untouchable for me, but hes pretty darn close to it," law said. "i dont think id trade casey kelly for one year of adrian gonzalez, and i love adrian gonzalez.

    Re: Another team's prospects thread

Confused. I read the AFL finale would be televised today @ 11:30 a.m. on MLB Network and that Bryce Harper would be getting into the game. I've been watching MLB Net and not only is it not online but there haven't been any promos for it.

    Anyone hear anything?

I thought it might be west coast time but my cable listings said prime 9 is on from 1pm until 4 and then hot stove. Said same thing online but thanks for the heads up.

Man that system is stacked. Easily the best out there. The amount of high-level lefty starters in one system is mind-boggling. It sucks that we couldn't sign Dwyer; he'd look good paired up with Manny B.

Gazooks. The '12 FA class for pitchers is pretty bad, I imagine they'll hold off on trading Greinke until then. I'll miss having a bye in the Division Series every year, though.

Yup. I am eagerly awaiting the new "revised" scouting reports that will come out. But good for the Sox, they are working the system properly. The Yanks used to be the masters at pumping and dumping prospects.

    Re: Another team's prospects thread

While the proposed deal may seem to favor the Red Sox on the surface, Keith Law of ESPN (Insider subscription required) sees it as being pretty even. While there's alot to like about the makeup of right-hander Casey Kelly, Law points out that he is also a great defensive pitcher. His fielding is so strong in fact that Law writes that "it's like having an extra infielder on the diamond."

Law is smarter than that. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen him write.

    Re: Another team's prospects thread

True. That does balance the deal out. I forgot that every game, the starting pitcher always gets at least 10 chances to field his position.

Even IF that happened, WTF? A good defensive player = Adrian Gonzalez?
