More on Sano
https://sports.yahoo.com/miguel-sano...101115820.html
...according to five people, including teammates, ex-teammates and confidants, with whom he has spent time. Though none accused Sano of sexual assault or could confirm Bissen’s account of the story, they characterized him as someone who saw the pursuit of women as sport. Getting in trouble for it “was only a matter of time,” said one person familiar with Sano, whom he called “a ticking time bomb.”

This incident by itself will probably earn him a modest suspension, at least if her story seems credible to mlb. But if this is the first of multiple shoes to drop, oh boy.

Mmmmm, from 1995 to 2001, Edgar was indeed a beast. He was a great gap to gap/OBP guy before his power came along at age 32 (??). Personally, I think Edgar should be in. However, I can understand why he is not in. Call it 16 seasons, 309 HR's, 2,200+ hits, and 1,200+ RBI's. I agree with some of the writers who feel that if hitting is the one thing you do, they need higher totals.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
The list of hall of fame eligible players who have a higher career OPS+ than Edgar Martinez is pretty small.
Dick Allen of the non-steroid era players comes to mind but then I never really understood why he's not in the Hall of Fame, seems it had to do a lot with is personality matching his first name.
Of the clearly steroid tainted only Big Mac, Manny, & Bonds are better.
I'm not claiming Edgar is clean but I'm not aware of any allegations against him either.
It seems Edgars problem with the voters seems to be he hit too many doubles and not enough HRs.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Agent Jason Wood gets fired.
Wood is under investigation by the union for “allegedly filming numerous clients while they were using his shower” — including one that found a camera and confronted the alleged perpetrator.

The Pirates traded Andrew McCutchen to the Giants for some people?
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/...en-giants.html
face of the franchise Andrew McCutchen has been traded to the Giants (along with cash considerations) in exchange for young right-hander Kyle Crick, outfield prospect Bryan Reynolds and $500K worth of international bonus pool space.

The relationship between player and team is irretrievably broken. It’s soured. He’s part of the old ownership regime. The new ownership regime needs to get new parts into this plan and move forward, and he needs to get on with his career where he’s got a chance to win. The big issue is him winning and winning now.
“He loves the city of Miami. He loves the fans. He’s had nothing but a good experience in South Florida, and he feels sorry where they ended up. But I think having him report [to spring training] and attempting to include him moving forward is going to be uncomfortable for both sides. I don’t see how it’s going to work.”
The Marlins are an abomination.

The Marlins are a disgrace to MLB. Why did Jeter bother buying a team if he can't afford to run it competitively? He is destroying his legacy in baseball.

No more Chief Wahoo in Cleveland, starting in 2019.

Divisive and hotly debated, the Chief Wahoo logo is being removed from the Indians' uniform next year.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I’m offended at being referred to as Yankee. I think we need to change the name of the team. It really hits me hard in the soul. I can’t sleep at night. I wake up in a cold sweat and often spend the rest of the night huddled up in the fetal position in the corner while I suffer this awful tragedy. It offends me and my family for generations.
