Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
That cavemen used to drag their women around by the hair and that they preferred it that way?
Seriously, you're wrong. His point about gender equality is not relevant to Ng's hire. Thirty years experience speaks for itself.

Except what he did was akin to drinking a 12 pack and then complaining to the judge at his DUI arraignment that you used to be able to get away with that in the 1970s.
The only thing he proved was his way of thinking is outmoded, and out of step in the 21st century. His issue isn't with PC culture. It's with himself.“Nobody teaches life anything.” - Gabriel García Márquez

Regarding Kim Ng, whom we were discussing before the thread veered off course: There's a nice story about her in today's Times:

Kim Ng Has Been Ready for Years
The pioneering baseball executive proved herself -- over and over -- for three decades. Several of her peers say they can't think of a more qualified first-time general manager.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I read somewhere the Phillies wanted Theo to be President but then I read others were being interviewed so things never worked out. Just read Phillies hired Dave Drombrowski as President for 4 years. I am sure he picked Holder (SS) in Rule V from us because I think this is one of their holes. (I wanted a catcher but happy to see a LHP) You may not like Dave but I do feel he knows how to put together a team and he loves baseball (always in the booth). It's a good fit with Joe G and Dave loves pitching (Sale). This will be interesting.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
It was a surprise but Philly needed someone.... Henry did NOT like/agree with him at all and I doubt if BOS will ever go above the luxury line again (Tanner kid (?) we will see again). This is hard for him because we all know he wants Realmuto and he is going to try but the owner wants to cut. His reputation for trading the farm system to get players he want. IMO Dave did a good job with BoSox (MAR, DET) as for hiring (Cora is a good example) and trades (Sale is another). Dave knows baseball and Joe G is a good manager. PHI was a under performer last year (us too) so it will be interesting.
one of the few that like Dave.

Cleveland Midges.
He finally met himself, coming down an up-staircase, and the encounter was crushing.

Maybe they should start from scratch, and go for one of those singular names: the Cuyahoga Fire.
