    Interesting, thanks for that.

So, barring injury or a major slump, Judge and Bellinger are on the verge of accomplishing a first in MLB history. Very cool.

NL pitching is pretty horrid. bellinger can't hit anything up in the zone with that severe uppercut swing.

he's not as effective against good pitching

Always reasonable - Nothing wrong with preferring Judge because he's a Yankee. But Bellinger is much younger and he's learning at the ML level at 21 when Judge was drafted at age 21.

And the horrid NL pitching has won 6 of the last 10 WS.

Again, we get you like the laundry of Judge better.

Just read NY Times article. Cody Bellinger was in the Yankees WS parades in 99 and 00. At ages 4 and 5 with his father and rest of family.

    what are you talking about?

    is this laundry?

age is not going to help him hit higher pitches with that swing.
i've said nothing about his overall production, which is great. there are some hitters on the yankees who could vastly increase their production by adopting the same approach with a similar swing. but this type of hitter does have big vulnerability to higher up pitches, and it's just not exploited enough by NL pitching.

btw, this year AL is destroying the NL,

    Interleague Play
AL leads NL 82-59 (732 runs to 652)

That's true of just about everyone. Hence the term "good pitching."

there are bad ball hitters who don't do as bad vs good pitching as hitters usually do. generally, linedrive oriented hitters fare better.

he has a big hole in the swing is the point.

If he has a big hole in his swing he should keep it up because it's working for the Dodgers. Interleague success isn't translating to WS success where it counts.

Maybe Bellinger will be washed up in 2020 when he's Judge's age.

you seem very invested in denying this obvious reality of bellinger being a flawed player.

Do you have the map for Judge? I'm just curious as to what it looks like.

It was your statement that" NL pitching is pretty horrid".
"Bellinger can't hit anything in the zone..."

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

i said he can't hit pitches up in the zone, not in the zone.

i'm actually a fan of bellinger's because he represents the extreme form of the flyball revolution that i often talk up on the forum. but the reality of the matter is that he is so extreme in his flyball swing that it can expose him to certain counters.

this is not to say that he cannot adjust, he may just find it unnecessary to adjust because pitchers don't like to pitch up in the zone. everything i've said is based on reviewing the evidence and data first.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread

There have been 136 times when a pitcher had a season with at least 200 innings, an ERA of 3.51 or lower, a winning percentage of .5625 or lower (9/16 or lower), and 9 or fewer wins. Tonight the Yankees are facing Jose Quintana, who did that in 2013, 2014, and 2015. He's the only pitcher to do that three times. Other than Quintana, that has been done 9 times in the last 19 seasons. The five pitchers who did it twice all did it from 1901 to 1919.
