RIP Don Baylor. Toughest man I've ever seen play baseball. Never flinched when getting hit by the ball.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

“He felt uncomfortable being in Japan, and he felt uncomfortable being in the United States,” says Nomura. “There wasn’t a home for him. It’s almost like he was always at the visitors’ ballpark.”

Also, I've always thought the blanket condemnation of him as a player was unfair. He wasn't the top of the rotation guy people expected, but he did contribute in spurts. He was the Yankee best pitcher in the early part of that 1998 championship season.

    Rest in peace, man.

I once saw him start to pull away from an inside pitch, but then he planted his foot back down while the rest of his body kept backing off, drawing theHBP.

I don't think we'll be seeing Bryce Harper until next August. His knee just bent the wrong way trying to get an infield single.

MLB's decision to force this game to continue just cost the sport its second best player. Good stuff, dudes.

It's not like it was the last time these teams would play each other too. They could have had a double header tomorrow

Looks like they're having a DH tomorrow anyways. No go on that. Victim of the unbalanced schedule, what a bunch of nonsense.

oh didn't know that at all. I guess I somewhat understand the situation then for MLB. Either way it sucks for Harper and Nats/baseball fans in general

No ligament or tendon damage for Bryce Harper according to GM Mike Rizzo. It's a significant bone bruise with no firm timeline, but they are optimistic he'll be back before end of season

Cincinnati's Scott Feldman became the seventh pitcher since 1913 to allow at least 5 home runs in 3 2/3 or fewer innings without getting a loss. Feldman allowed 4 home runs in the fourth inning including three consecutive home runs, but he left while winning. After scoring 9 in the second inning to go up 9-0, Cincinnati blew their lead. The sixth inning just started with the Reds and Cubs tied at 9.

Holy ess on Buxton's inside-the-park HR last night. Fastest recorded home-to-home. He looked like a blur.

Mike Napoli is batting .199 and has 26 home runs. The most home runs with a batting average below .200 is 32 by Mark Reynolds when he hit .198 in 2010. Napoli could exceed 32 home runs.

In Texas's 17-7 win, the Chicago White Sox's Derek Holland, Dylan Covey, and Chris Beck became the 39th group of three teammates since 1913 to allow at least 3 earned runs, at least 4 hits, and at least 1 home run in 2 2/3 or fewer innings.

Discouraging article on an important topic....fans need to get behind this or MLB will miss a great chance to improve the game

IF the Dodgers continue to win games they are now, they will win 115 games. IF they do that and IF they run through the playoffs, are they the best team of last 50 years?

Haven't paid attention to the Phillies in recent years, for good reason, but damn, Rhys Hoskins..

After becoming the fastest player in major league history to hit 10 homers, doing so in 17 games, Hoskins hit career homer No. 11 in his 18th game but he also flashed some defensive skills at a position he has not even spent a month at in the pros by starting a triple play.

Today had a triple play on a ball caught by an outfielder, a pitcher out at home plate to lose a game, and the first inning with 5 errors since 1977. Trailing the Mets 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth down to their final out, Washington singled and pinch-ran pitcher Edwin Jackson, who got out at home on Daniel Murphy's double. A.J. Ramos had a 2 inning save for the Mets.
