You're right, he is. Perhaps, it takes a punk to beat a punk.

In this case, it was all Ventura, though.

How so? Was there a history leading up this beaning? To me it seemed like Ventura is a purpose beaner who finally got punched in the face as he deserved.

There was that whole thing a couple years ago where he flung a bat down the third base line at Josh Donaldson and started a fight when Donaldson tagged him on a different play (granted, Donaldson is a third member of this brawling, punk triumvirate). Machado wasn't a punk last night, but in general he kinda is.

Exactly. Machado does things like holding the ball on a groundout then gunning it to first to make the play close. Then he smirks around like a punk.

    He's an ass.

Just not this time. Although he should be facing an 8 game suspension.

that wasn't the worst part... in that same series against the A's, he would swing and miss on purpose with a really long backswing and ended up knocking the C derek norris in the head twice in 2 days... and he would smirk on his way back to the dugout after K'ing... norris ended up suffering a minor concussion

the irony is that machado was quoted after last night's game about how players can end careers with their behavior... i wonder if he was also preaching to himself

That is fine as long as Ventura gets 15. He is a repeat offender who got 7 games the last time so they only what to send him a message is sit him down for half a month. I doubt it will happen.

Yu Darvish left the Rangers game last night with right shoulder soreness. Not believed to be related to his TJ Surgery.

He was examined by a doctor who found no structural damage, though I'm not sure how he'd give that diagnosis given the timing of it would've precluded any MRI being performed.

There's a certain level of, well, machismo that exists with our neighbors to the south. It was on display the other night.

Jose Fernandez has been such a beast this year. 2.29 ERA with 13.26 K/9 through 74.2 IP.

    I forgot that he had a 176 ERA+ as a 20-year-old over 173 innings. Wtf.

Watch the Red Sox do a block buster trade for Fernandez. They have the guys to do it.

Just watched a documentary called 'Fastball'.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5434972/

Some good interviews in there, and using scientific methods they try to determine who threw the fastest recorded pitch.

    Spoiler-- it wasn't Chapman.

He could never reproduce the results, unfortunately, although they do mention him in the film.
