    Scioscia seems like a douche.
Scioscia seems like he'd fit in with the Yankees. DiPoto should be welcome in NY to replace Cashman, but he won't. In other words, he would've left NYY as well.

That 'WHOOSH' sound is the game passing the Yankees by.

Dipoto did hand out the Pujols, Wilson, and Hamilton contracts. It's not like he's a great GM or anything. I still side with him over Scioscia, who is something of a moron (let's play Bobby Wilson instead of Mike Napoli!).

I think those contracts had a lot to do with Arte Moreno, but take that FWIW..

Absolutely. By all accounts it was Moreno who pushed for signing Hamilton (and it was one of the factors that led to DiPoto deciding to step down since he is frequently at odds with his manager and his owner). I've heard Pujols was Moreno's doing as well.

Because he's cheating the system. Now he gets a much higher bonus than what he would have been slotted for in the draft. He gets all the benefits of other USA High School players but gets to hop on a plane and declare himself a free agent. So all immigrant high school draftees should be able to do the same thing right?

MLB needs an international draft, end of story.

He didn't cheat anything. MLB declared him a free agent. If they didn't think it was warranted, he'd be in the draft.

Jose Fernandez isn't having the best "Welcome Back" outing on the mound (5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER so far), but he did hit a HR off of Matt Cain (also his first start back), which is kinda cool.

Ended up pretty solid, all things considered. 6 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, plus his homer.

Toronto starter Matt Boyd allowed 7 runs in 0 innings in his second career game. He became the third pitcher since 1914 to allow back-to-back home runs in 0 innings in one of his first two career games. Ortiz and Ramirez hit the home runs for Boston.

On the grounds that he's a foreign citizen who was living in a foreign country when he applied for free agency.

Actually, he doesn't even have to play ball; enrolling in a high school is enough to establish residency. Except that then he finished school and moved back to the Bahamas, so apparently the Commissioner's office agreed that that ended his US residency.

You may disagree with their interpretation, but the kid didn't do anything sneaky or underhanded. He was open about the whole thing, and petitioned MLB with the facts on the table. Why the hate for him?

I definite disagree with their interpretation and my guess is all non-USA born HS prospects will start doing the same thing.

I am assuming he was once ranked on draft boards so where was he suppose to go and what would the slot bonus have been?

Altuve gets on base with one of those funny singles down the 3b side in Fenway that juts the ball out in front of the left fielder...Steals 2b. Correa crushes a 2 run shot to LF to tie it at 3, and then Evan Gattis follows up with another HR to LF. Exit RP Alexi Ogando.

I promise you I will never stop being a Yankees fan. But holy guacamole are these Astros a fun ball club to watch.
