    NYYFans.Com Fantasy Baseball League Constitution

It took a lot of work, and I consulted with several people here (including the commissioners) but attached here is a copy of what I hope will become our League Constitution. It incorporates all our rules and procedures, and I hope I didn't leave anything out.

If you can think of anything that I got wrong, or left out, please post it in this thread.

I'd like to pass this now, rather than during the off-season, so hopefully all the owners will get a chance to look at it.

According to Kevin, a simple majority of the owners voting will pass the constitution. There's nothing in there that you shouldn't know already, but hopefully having all our rules in one place will fend off a lot of the arguing and problems we've had in the past.

(Note that votes are public, so we can make sure only owners are voting)

You couldn't do this in a word document?

You forgot the rule about how I get a 100 point handicap each week.

I did it in a word document, but it was 95K, which is bigger than the site allows. So I had to save it as .txt, which I have now finished reformatting so it can be read.

I'm gonna read it when I get home, but does it say anything about The Ligers being the coolest of all the new teams?

Check it again. I forced line breaks at the end of each line so it shouldn't scroll anymore.

There's a reason why I didn't opt for law school... so much reading... so early in the morning...

You said that the championship team can keep three "teams" at a one round penalty, rather than players, but other than that, excellent job.

Good idea. Maybe we can generate some prize money or some more money for Jim to run the site by selling promo stuff.

    Question.

If a player is picked up as a Free Agent, must that player be kept 2 rounds higher than he was drafted last year.

Free Agents are considered 22nd round picks, and may be kept in the 20th round (or 21st round if a playoff team uses one of their special pick).

Minor Leaguers who need to be kept using a major league keeper (used up their minor league eligibility, or were on a league team's ML roster at the end of the season) are considered 23rd round picks and may be kept with a 21st round pick.

OK, just to be clear. If a player was drafted in the 10th Round, but was later dropped and then picked up by a different team, he can be drafted in the 20th round next year?

No, I think he'll still be considered as an 8th rounder if you decide to keep him.

I don't believe it addresses that situation in the League Constitution, although I could be wrong. I've been wrong 70 or 80 times today.

No, he retains his draft pick, and can be kept with an 8th round pick.

XV. ADDING/DROPPING PLAYERS: Teams may add or drop players as often as they want, without penalty. Players dropped from a team’s roster will be added to the waivers wire, where any team can put in a claim on the player for three days. If one team makes a claim on a dropped player during the waiver period, that team will be awarded him and be moved to the bottom of the waiver priority list. If more than one team puts in a claim, the team highest on the waiver list will get the player. After three days, if nobody has claimed a player, he becomes a free agent and can be signed by any team. A player that was drafted and subsequently dropped by a team and picked up by another team, retains their original draft position for keeper eligibility. For example, Eric Gagne is drafted in the first round, then suffers a season-ending injury. His team drops him, since he is not keeper-eligible. Another team picks him up after he clears waivers. Since he was a 1st round pick in the draft, he retains his 1st round status, and is ineligible to be kept by his new team.
