There might be a little smoke here, as The Athletic's Jim Bowden reported Friday that the Yankees had been in touch with the Reds about Castillo, though he clarified that those discussions have died down recently.

With the Yankees payroll limitations, I also don’t see any them trading Frazier and his very reasonable salary - not when they would have to spend at least an extra $2-3 million to replace him with Gardner. Even Cashman couldn’t be that dumb, could he?

They may have done an inquiry but that may be the extent of it. The fact he then clarified his Friday Tweet that any further talk looks to have died down, pretty much covers him when nothing comes of it.

I'm not in favor of giving up Frazier in just about any deal, but I'd give up Andujar & Dominguez along with Garcia and Abreu.

I'm also not in favor of taking on any salary for Moustakas or Castellanos. Both contracts are bloated and neither player is needed. I don't care if it drives Castillo's price down - I'd rather give up a better package of players than take on salary at this time.

I would take Castellanos if it meant not giving up Frazier.

Then flip Castellanos and cash to another team or trade Voit for something decent.

I don't mind taking on salary. Hal needs to stop acting cheap and do what is best for the team. When you do nothing to address your poor player development and drafting, you need to spend to fix your problems.
