So who is staying and who is going?
BTW who was telling the yankees to swing on 3-0?

Cashman must go. He has done some things really well. He hasn’t delivered a WS in too long. And therein lies the rub, he doesn’t see his job as brining home Championships. Instead, he wants to build the bestest farm system and refuse to use it.

Re: 2020-2021 offseason thread
Ultimately injuries/suspensions and CB Buckner was the difference to me. Losing Paxton, Severino, German, and Kahne proved to overly weaken our pitching. Judge never got his timing back post his injury. Despite that, if not for CB Buckner, we likely would have won in 4 (ignoring Michael Kay's "fallacy of the predetermined outcome")
Rays also did a great job. Congrats to them. Sad that this team was unable to meet its preseason potential.
Severino, German, and Kahne will be key to next year's success. Wonder if the Yanks will have the guts to not sign a major SP and go with Cole, Severino, German, Garcia, and Montgomery as their starters (with Schmidt and King to back them up). High upside but high risk with that configuration. Doubt they will do it but I think maybe they should

Re: 2020-2021 offseason thread
When you put it that way, it doesn't sound so good to me as well.
I believe (hope) DJ will be re-signed. I pray we bring another SP. Let Paxton go. Trade away Sevy and bring back someone who can hit for average.
I can't really get too mad about tonight's outcome. I wish we had won game 2.

They have a lot to fix, and the wrong man to do it. The results don't change until that does.

Re: 2020-2021 offseason thread
It's time to move on from tanaka and gardner. Look for a new catcher, and get more power arms in the pen. Bauer is a must have for me, not sure what else right now. Oh and bring back DJL

Re: 2020-2021 offseason thread
I get it. The $258m team Hal bought got bested by one with a $78 payroll, and not just in a best of five, either.
Apropos of nothing, I *loved* how the Rays were ballsy enough to go with three centerfielders for their OF in the 9th. Of course, the Yankees K’d twice and lined out to third, but it was cool to see a team do something like that.“Nobody teaches life anything.” - Gabriel García Márquez

Re: 2020-2021 offseason thread
Yankees will never do something unorthodox. It's all about tradition in Bronx. I'm almost certain that Cash will try to keep the core intact even though this "core" hasn't proven anything yet.
My guess is that Cash will bank on Sevy coming back, Gary returning to his rookie form and Gardy hanging around for one more year. Other than Bauer, there's not one SP who interests me. OK, maybe Carrasco.
We did not get flattened by Rays. We came really close and probably would've won if Bucknor did not screw us.

Re: 2020-2021 offseason thread
The Cessa and Holder experiment needs to end. They need a middle relief core that can actually record outs.
