I agree with your picks except I have the Astros pulling the upset and the Cardinals beating the Padres.

I doubt there will be 7 of 8 series going 3 games but that could be fun.

SD & ATL have had their pitching hut by injury this year, wonder if either has enough pitching left to make a run But if LAD & SD both win their 1st series the 2 best records in the NL will be meeting in the 2nd round.

But the Astros do have a skipper who is known to having weary postseason pasts in Dusty Baker.

As for the Cardinals, they won't quit, but I think the Padres will have just enough to outlast them. Zach Davies and Chris Paddack need to step up with Mike Clevinger and Dinelson Lamet banged up with bicep injuries.

I don't believe Baker is making the decisions anymore than Boone. I saw a quote a few days ago from Baker where he said the statcast stats and the medical analytics said he should rest Springer because the day before he did a lot of running in the game and was at risk for injury.

    Sounds familiar.....

I also believe the Astros are built for a 3 game series. They can slide Cristian Javier and either Urquidy or McCullers into the bullpen. Javier pitched very well as a starter this year with a .994 WHIP and only gave up more than 3 runs in a start once. Recently he got a shot as a reliever. He struck out 5 Dodgers in 2 scoreless innings. He has that high spin rate stuff and the Twins have never seen him. They haven't seen Urquidy either who had Covid and missed most of the season. He spent a lot of time getting stretched out at their alternate site. He made 6 starts this year and never gave up more than 2 runs. McCullers hasn't given up a run in his last 3 starts and struck out 9 in 4 innings in his final tune up start. I expect them to use those guys like they used McCullers and Morton in 2017. They might go Greinke for 5-6 innings and hand the ball the Javier for the rest of the game. Then do the same with either Urquidy and McCullers.

I think in a 5 or 7 game series with no days off where they have to use all their starters as starters the Astros bullpen will be exposed. However, in a 3 game series you will only face their best pitchers.
