Well I think Tauchman should be the starter or a L/R platoon in left fields with Andujar/Tauchman so were probably on the same page. That said Im not going to complain when GARDY starts.

And I think Stanton should be playing the field so Voit doesn't have to.

I just don't think Gardy should start almost every game. Had Hicks not been injured and needed surgery Gardy might not even have been re signed.

If Cole pitches he could go 7 and you don't need the bullpen.

Im not opposed to Stanton playing LF, but I dont mind him DHing either. The Yankees have a deep strong bench this year with Ford, Andujar, Tauchman all obviously reserve players right now at least in Boones eyes. That will certainly help them when the Double headers hit, even if they are just 7 inning affairs.

Believe me youre preaching to the choir. But Boone obviously has different ideas.

    Well, yes.

Im fine with the rule change for this season as the whole thing is just different.

Next year, Id hope it returns to the standard nine innings.

As much as Ive enjoyed watching Brett over the years, Id barely be playing him more. Hed be my backup CF, an occasional starter in LF and late inning replacement.

Yes. But apparently Boone still thinks of him as the #3 outfielder.

Yup, and he might run into a good week that makes Boone feel justified.

But, they should be playing Miggy & Stanton in LF, for me.

Stanton I think they are afraid could get hurt again although I hope he eventually plays in the OF. But Andujar needs more than 3 ABs a week to get in a groove.

somewhat off topic, but the end of the game tonight the fox announcers said the yanks have the ML best record (which is true) at 6 - 1, one loss better than minn and SD...interestingly, leading the NL east is miami at 2 - 1. If their season ended or something crazy like that due to covid, do they win the division (assuming no other team wins 2/3 of their games, which is extremely likely)?

(of course, pragmatically baseball would rule them ineligible due to number of games, its yet another amusing artifact of this crazy season).

So any news on Britton? Injured, sick, scheduled day off, precaution for next week?

I assume the answer is yes, but would he be credited with a complete game in this scenario?

Boone just wanted to give him a day off. Said hes been warming up a lot this week.

He's fine. Boone warmed him up twice yesterday and didn't want to use him tonight. Just wants to keep him healthy.

Phew...thank heaven, so it was simply a precautionary dayoff. So this means that all of Green, Otto, Britton are available tomorrow going for the sweep.

Yup, even if youre not comfortable with Andujar out there, Tauchman also a lefty and also an elite defender seems to be an obvious choice. I guess well see some more rest days coming up though.
