    Site Issues

Sorry for the long outage over the weekend....there's not much we can do in times like this other than wait. The good news is that I have a direct contact person at SNY who helps get problems resolved, and up to a few months ago I had nobody to contact for the previous five years.

In any event, it was apparently a server issue that is hopefully resolved. We are still trying to get a software upgrade which is turning out to be a frustrating process, but we're still hopeful it'll happen sometime soon.
    Let the kids play.

    Thanks Bub.
If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Thanks Bub. By the third day, I even did a goggle search to see if somebody at SNY got fired or furloughed, funding. Happy to see the NYYFans back. I've learned a lot here.

you should make sure at least a second person knows who the contact is, just in case anything happens and you're not able to reach out to them.

This is hilarious. One day SNY is gonna decide to shut this place down without telling anyone and the largest fan base in sports will not have forum/message board community. This is the only game in town.

Honestly, there's a market for a legit Yankees message board. Maybe with a front page where contributors drop a 500 word opinion and link it to a thread.

Aside from the opinion articles, how would you differentiate "a legit Yankees message board" from what is happening here? Just curious. We are always looking to improve things that we have control over.

I didn’t mean to suggest the admins, the users, and the content generated are not legitimate in any sense of the word. NYYFans, however is starved for users (and the content they would provide). The site is over a decade behind in terms of software and probably two decades behind in acceptable downtime. I’d try to leverage the various social media platforms to drive visitors to the site, and that’s where a front page comes into play.

Its good youre on it, just dont overdo plaguing your contact. He might consider it a Bub-On-It Plague and shut down the site.

    Re: Site Issues

Sorry for the outage again. We're working on a better way to get these issues resolved more quickly, but the host server needs to step up IMO. In the meantime we're learning more and more about who runs what and getting more contact information. A software upgrade is still in the works.

Same. I haven't visited in a while and tried to log on last night to talk about the draft. Server timed out. I thought maybe the site had shut down.

Supposedly the Wilpons will have to include SNY in a Mets ownership sale. I don't have a good feeling about the longevity of this site if ownership of SNY changes hands. Not that things here have been great lately.

The Wilpon's don't want to sell SNY, but even if they do it should have no effect on this site.

I had a conversation with SNY today, and they put great value on this site and intend on making improvements, plus adding additional administrative features that will allow me to go directly to the host server in case of an outage. All of this is taking a lot longer than I had hoped, but if everyone follows through we should be all spiffed up and running smoothly sometime this summer.

Yes, it does! They will undoubtedly take weeks to iron out completely, but it should be worth the trouble. We appreciate your patience. Hang in there folks!
