Per Yankees Twitter. Cuts have begun.

Yankees optioned RHPs Luis Gil and Luis Medina to High-A Tampa; optioned RHP Brooks Kriske to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre; optioned RHP Albert Abreu and OF Estevan Florial to Double-A Trenton; reaassigned RHP Domingo Acevedo and RHP Alexander Vizcaíno to minor league camp.

Is Jasson actually going to be in Tampa? At his age, I assumed he would stay in the DR.

I believe the expectation is he will be in either Tampa (GCL) or Pulaski but certainly could start out in DSL simply because it starts much earlier and it will begin his development sooner.
Cashman told Accorsi, “I feel the responsibility of millions of Yankee fans on my shoulders, fans who take this very seriously and for which every game is very important. I think of that every day.”

He was in Tampa last week. He is supposed to be in camp from what I was told but that could change with all the virus hoopla.

Pipeline ranks the Yankees system 22nd in baseball.

https://www.mlb.com/news/2020-farm-s...eline-coverage

22) New York Yankees
2019 preseason rank: unranked
2019 midseason rank: unranked
Top 100 Prospects: Jasson Dominguez, OF (No. 54), Clarke Schmidt, RHP (No. 88), Deivi Garcia, RHP (No. 92)
Top 2020 rookie: Clarke Schmidt, RHP
The much-hyped Dominguez headlines a deep contingent of high-upside international players who will need a few years in the Minors.

Will Hoy Jun Park start in AAA this season? How is his defense?

His batting profile is pretty attractive, and moving to AAA should help the power numbers. Wouldn't be surprised to see him have a strong year.

Hopefully a strong enough year to get some trade value. Yankees need international fund slots and hopefully some competitive balance draft picks a team is willing to trade.

Since the COVID-19 panic canceled my trip to Tampa for Spring Training, I have been trying to get as many interviews with players scheduled. You should start seeing them on the site next week.

At this point last year, the Yankees were in the bottom 10 of our farm rankings at FanGraphs, based on the same methods I'm using here. We noted that the Yankees had a high variance system whose prospect list had about double the number of teenagers as any other list, so there was potential to rise quickly. Adding the only top-100 prospect in the 2019 international class (CF Jasson Dominguez) helped, but the next six ranked prospects were all upgraded a notch or two in the past year, joining reinforcements from a solid draft class and arguably the best international program in baseball. It's still a young system, so maybe only two players (RHP Deivi Garcia and RHP Clarke Schmidt) from the top 20 in the organization will get big league time in 2020, but there's more than enough talent here to either trade for reinforcements or to see continued appreciation in value to make up for two graduations in next year's ratings.

New Staten Island Yankees manager Dan Fiorito talked with Justin Maccagnan about his journey from player to coach to manager in the Yankees organization. Tomorrow we will have the second part of our interview with Dan where he talks about many Yankees prospects that played in the GCL last year.

They mocked the second round?

I will be pissed if they take Loftin in the first round. MLB has him 49th, FanGraphs has him 79th.

Instead of looking at the top of the draft lists and dreaming about who might drop to us, I'm resigned to looking through the 40-80 range and cringing about who they are going to reach for.
