During a conference call today, Aaron Boone said that both CC Sabathia and Aaron Hicks are being considered to join the ALCS roster. Boone said Sabathia "looked sharp," and sounded more like a lock-in. For Hicks, the team is considering what role he would play and the lack of at-bats since August. Also said Yankees have made no decision on rotation for the ALCS. In terms of injuries, Britton (ankle) Chapman (hand) are both fine after Game 3 injury concerns.

Any chance you guys think they might be waiting to announce G1 starter based on the results of tomorrow's game (opponent/HF advantage)?

Without a doubt. Probably affects the roster moves as well.

I guess it depends on whether it is Houston or Tampa. I think someone pointed out Tanaka was much better at home this year. So if it is Houston you line him up either 1/5 or 3/7 but if it is Tampa you line him up 2/6

I don't see why you would announce your starter until you have to anyway but if you don't know who your opponent is and don't know whether you're starting at home or on the road it would be ludicrous unless you have an absolute across-the-board unquestionable ace.

I also don't think you can put a game 7 on Sevy. As noted, they'll have to look at opponent matchups and home/away stats before inking this in. For the moment, nice to be able to chillax and catch a bunch of game 5's.

Alternately, Boone may elect to go with a Rope-a-Dope strategy and name Mike Ford as the game 1 starter.

Game 7 would be an all hands on deck. If Sevy goes 3-4 great innings, so be it.

Understood, but Sevy is not fully back yet. We were fortunate to survive game 3.

What you are saying is contradictory - that is you want to increase the likeleyhood he pitches twice by moving him up to G1 or G2 because you don't trust him.

Looking at these match-ups I am honestly torn who I would like to face, I honestly feel like the Yankees can beat Greinke in Minute Maid Park and I feel Cole will not be as sharp on the road in Yankee Stadium. We could very well be up 3 games to 1 on Game 5 with Greinke pitching in Yankee Stadium and I doubt they would start Verlander on 3 days rest again but Houston is Houston they are going to be tough. Playing in TB sounds terrifying when the Yankees not only struggle there but are used to having a large fan base there, It's not going to the case here and I can see that turning things upside down especially with the good overall pitching they have.

Not at all. You pitch him twice unless you defer to game 4. I don’t like the combo ending up at game 7.

    Re: 2019 Postseason Thread

Even though it was good for the first year, I had a lot of fear that the new Stadium was going to be overly sanitized with regards to the crowd. The 2017 ALCS allayed a lot of those fears, and this puts them to rest for me. I was at Game 2 and in love with how raucous it was. Hearing this from the opposition warms my heart.

    https://nypost.com/2019/10/09/twins-...mlbs-cruelest/

Twins reliever Tyler Duffey never experienced anything like the vitriol he received from Yankees fans during the ALDS.

“Boston’s fun, they’re baseball fans,” Duffey told The Athletic after the Yankees swept the Twins in the ALDS. ”Yankees fans, they just hate people.”

Duffey appeared in both games at Yankee Stadium, striking out the side in one inning of work in Game 1 before surrendering a series-changing grand slam to Didi Gregorius in the third inning of Game 2. Yankees fans were not kind throughout, showering him in beer and “a lot of expletives.”
There was a private feeling around the Twins that the environment at Yankee Stadium played a role in the 101-win team floundering again in the postseason, according to the report. Duffey described Yankees fans as hating “you for no reason, which is what you want.”

And had "we" lost game 3, would we not have "survived"?

Seems we still had two more chances to win a third game.

I’m assuming everyone is rooting for the Nats in the DS as the dodgers being out would be huge if the Yanks get past Houston/TB

What horrible fans those dodger fans are- it’s 7-3, not 13-1. Where are they going?
