We are heading to overtime in Edmonton's Rogers Place!

The #4 seed and defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues have forced overtime against the #5 seed Vancouver Canucks in a 3-3 deadlock after regulation.

Canucks captain center Bo Horvat helped Vancouver take a 1-0 lead after the first period after Chris Tanev had a poke check in their own zone, picked up the puck and danced around the Blues to score shorthanded at 7:23. That was Horvat's fifth goal of the playoffs.

Tanner Pearson ripped a one-timer past Jordan Binnington on the power play to give the Canucks a 2-0 lead at 13:01 of the second period.

Ryan O'Reilly got one back for the Blues on the power play at 18:56 as St. Louis trailed 2-1 after two.

Elias Pettersson helped Vancouver restore their two-goal lead after one of the Blues had a broken stick on the power play at 5:36 of the third period as Vancouver was up 3-1.

But the Blues stormed back with two goals to force overtime.

Sammy Blais forced a turnover and stuffed the puck past Jacob Markstrom 9:02 to make it a 3-2 game and David Perron tied the game at 3 with seven seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Shots are 36-22 in favor of St. Louis.

Power Plays: VAN 2/3, STL 1/6

Will the Canucks go up 2-0 or will the Blues even the series at 1-1?

The defending Stanley Cup champions are in BIGGGGGG trouble!

Bo Horvat scored his second of the game after taking advantage on a bad gamble pinch by the St. Louis Blues defense in their attacking zone and beat Jordan Binnington one-on-one on the breakaway for the winner at 5:55 in the first overtime period.

It is Horvat's sixth goal of the playoffs.

The #5 seed Vancouver Canucks are up 2-0 on the #4 seed St. Louis Blues in this Best-of-Seven WCR1 series after a 4-3 victory in overtime!

Jacob Markstrom was another hero for the Canucks with 34 saves.

Game 3 between these two teams on Sunday August 16.

The professor Barry Trotz is up 2-0 on his pupil Todd Reirden as the #6 seed New York Islanders pulled away from the #3 seed Washington Capitals in Game 2, 5-2.

The Capitals led 1-0 after the first period when Alex Ovechkin scored his first goal of the playoffs 56 seconds into the game.

The Islanders scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead in the second period.

Nick Leddy unleashed a seeing-eye bomb that went through traffic and past Braden Holtby on the power play to tie the game at 1-1 at 2:56.

Matt Martin poked in a Scott Mayfield pass to make it 2-1 Isles at 5:01.

Washington replied when Ovechkin scored his second of the game to make it a Desmond 2-2 at 6:39.

But it was the Islanders who took a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes when Brock Nelson stripped Jakub Vrana in the Islanders' blue line and turned on the jets to beat Holtby mano-a-mano on the breakaway 15 seconds after Ovechkin tied the game at two a piece.

The Islanders dominated the third period with two unanswered goals late to escape with the victory.

Leo Komarov caused a turnover on Dimitry Orlov and Jean-Gabriel Pageau had his pass deflected off T.J. Oshie's stick, off Cal Clutterbuck's glove, grabs a piece of John Carlson and past Holtby to the twine to make it 4-2 at 17:14. The goal was credited to Clutterbuck with no distinct punching motion.

Anders Lee put the icing on the cake with an empty netter.

Semyon Varlamov earned his second win against his former team with 23 saves while Holtby had 27 stops in a losing effort for Washington.

Game 3 between these teams on Sunday August 16.

The #6 seed Calgary Flames go 2-1 up on the #3 seed Dallas Stars in their Best-of-Seven WCR1 series after blanking them 2-0 in Game 3.

After a scoreless first period, the Flames scored first for the third straight game while killing a penalty as Mikael Backlund shrugs off a challenge at the Calgary blue line from Roope Hintz and barrels his way towards the cage and pokes the puck past Anton Khudobin for a short-handed goal at 5:58 to give his team a 1-0 lead after two periods.

Calgary grabbed a 2-0 lead at 10:36 of the third period as T.J. Brodie unleashed a cannon from the point.

Dallas tried to get on the board, but Calgary goalie Cam Talbot shut the door with a 35-save whitewash.

Game 4 between these two teams on Sunday August 16.
