Guess where the Yankees are weakest by far. DH! So maybe it's a good thing we have the healthy guys coming back and will have better hitters available for the DH. If they don't come back or others get injured, though, perhaps DH is one of our biggest needs.

Despite all the talking about starting pitching (and of course you can never have too much), we are actually tied for 2nd best in the AL. And that's without Severino.
    Wow, Houston's offense at 124 OPS+. They have a top 5 for 7/9 positions!

Kind of funny that our bullpen is about average (0.4 WAA) and our starting pitching is 2.2 WAA.

While emphasizing that no deals are done and other teams are involved, people involved continue to say that the Yankees are very well-positioned to land Dallas Keuchel next week. One of the frontrunners.

    Makes sense.
    Banged up rotation
    In first place
    Have massive revenues
Seems pretty likely they will be one team in the mix for sure.

Scott Boras told me tonight he believes Dallas Keuchel could be ready to pitch at the @MLB level within roughly one week after signing, if that is what his team desires. Boras said Keuchel has thrown 7 simulated games of 95 to 104 pitches, every five days.

I will only believe what Boras says if it's corroborated by Heyman.

Not a big fan of the Keuchel move at all. If they sign him I'll root for it to work out.

I'd rather they went after the legitimately elite guy in Scherzer, but that's not how this works financially under the Steinbrenners.

Scherzer would cost a king's ransom. Keuchel only money.

Sad but true. We saw that first-hand this winter with Harper and Machado.

The odd man out in the rotation when Keuchel arrives will be German, due to innings limits. I do not like innings limits.

Andy Martino is a click bait whore.

See Mets/Yankees trade talks from the winter.

Saying the Yankees are "Well positioned" to sign someone isn't news. They're well positioned to sign EVERYONE.

What was his W/L record in those simulated games? Anyway I think the Yankees will pass since once Severino and Montgomery return they will have enough starting pitchers even with cutting down on German's innings.

Sabermetricians have long since abandoned the use of wins and losses to evaluate simulated games.

Agree. I donít think there will be a lot of concern with an innings limit for German anyway. Thatís a precaution normally exercised for kids. German will be 27 later this season. Heís not a kid. As you say, they can always limit his innings later in the season when the reinforcements arrive if the situation calls for it.

He has massive anxiety issues, he spoke about it two or three years ago. Not trying to bring the guy down for it, it is a major problem in the country - just don't think that would mix well with the pressure that comes with playing in New York

Greinke actually suffers from what I think is social anxiety disorder, totally legit medical diagnosis of him from what I recall.

He's a great pitcher, but given his mental health history, it is fair to ask how that would potentially adversely affect his performance, and perhaps more importantly, his quality of life, in a place like NYC..

Have not even touched on the contract as yet, which is also pretty nightmarish..

I have social anxiety disorder and work in highly stressful construction world in NYC.

In fact, compared to what I deal with, playing baseball even in NYC isn't nearly as stressful, particularly when you get paid millions.

Full disclosure, I do not suffer from this condition, but I had an ex who did. For her, it was not the stress of the job itself or the situation, but more the interaction with people especially when that interaction was negative or involved conflict..

I do not think Greinke would have issues, per se, if the job was just going out and pitching. But being surrounded by reporters after games, especially bad games, digging for every last morsel of info.. that might not be the best environment for him....
