This is one of the many reasons I can't take extended periods of O'Neill's presence in the booth. "Kinda" is another. Giggling at his own jokes is another. "Hunh Conie?" yet another. I could go on. But won't.

Apparently, he's thought of enough to do nationally-televised NBA games on ESPN as well as the No. 2 PBP guy for the Nets behind Ian Eagle. So either knows the right people (Fordham alum), or he's pretty good at what he does. I tend to side with the latter.
Knows the right people? His fathers been an executive with the NFL for over 30 years. If his father didn’t get/ask for help in introducing him to hiring managers it’d be the first time connections weren’t used. Don’t blame him or begrudge him that. It happens in all walks of life.

Really the only one I dislike is Flaherty. I can't properly describe how much I hate him. He is so terrible.

Me too. Surely, one of the elite managers of the past 20 years, and might have been in line for a HoF plaque were it not for the run-in with George.

Ruocco and Flaherty, gonna be a mute game for me. One of these guys is horrible but pairing them is cruel and unusual punishment to the listener.

It absolutely should be against the law to have these guys together.

Well, at least Flaherty won’t be doing play-by-play. That’s all I got.

Buck Showalter is in town to do pre and postgames for YES Network. Fantastic announcer. He’ll be candid in appearances. But here’s the question I want to know: Could he be a candidate across town in Queens for 2020?
Standings: Big Inning 32-16; Blue Cut 27-21; Shoo Fly 26-22; Husk 22-26; Frank Pierce 21-27; Iowa City 16-32.

I understand why Ken Singleton doesn't do as many games as he used to, but I wish he did more games. I'm enjoying listening to Singleton do play-by-play for tonight's game.

To be fair, nails on a chalk board would be an improvement over the last three games.

    Kenny is the best though.

Yeah, Lorenz, tonight might not be the night to trot out your "humorous" trilling of "Encarrrrrrrrrrrrrnacion." Up yours Lorenz, don't need comedy right now.

I tell you what, O'Neill with Singleton - and without Kay - is pretty tolerable. He says some smart things and mostly stays on topic. If someone could teach him not to say "expecially," he could become downright useful.

Actually I thought last season was Kennys last. I was pleasantly surprised he was working this season. Kenny is the best and when he was with Jim Kaat it was perfect.

Great game and great announcing. YES needs to double Kenny's pay to do ALL the games while Kay is gone and also, pay Cone and Paulie whatever it takes to keep them on board with Singleton. Ruocco is a phony excitement, rank amateur and Flaherety is a nasally, frog in the throat bore.

Tonight’s broadcast is just terrible. Ruocco is bringing out the worst in O’Neiil.

Last night Paul was fine. Good, in fact. Tonight... Roucco'd.

Agree completely. Ruocco reminds me of my local high school football game and basketball game announcer who is just a nice, 5,000 watt sports guy who is trying his best but is on the radio mostly as a hobby. The local guy makes his living as the township treasurer. I wonder if Ruocco knows anything about politics?

He’s been exactly like Showalter. Knows a lot of interesting things, delivers them in a dry monotone.

Goodnight be a stretch, but he did no damage. Singleton and Cone kept his worst instincts contained.
