I wish him a successful recovery, but he should take his time coming back. Like about September 30th.

So not only all our players go on the IL. This year even our main announcers go on the IL too.

I cannot take a month of Ruocco. I know my mute function is going to take a beating.

    him?
Likely a combination of Singleton, Flaherty, maybe Bob Lorenz, and, yes, Ryan Ruocco.

I won't say that he's growing on me, exactly, but he irritates me less than he did at first. Maybe he's improving?

Ruocco is very polarizing. You either love him or hate him. I think he does a good job.

I just remembered Ryan Ruocco is filling in for John Sterling this weekend. So whos filling in for Michael Kay? Will it be Flaherty and Cone in the booth? Id say Ken Singleton, but he only agreed to come back for another year with a less busy schedule.

I don't feel that way. I think he's not a good announcer right now, but that's a consequence of YES's strange decision making. He's a young broadcaster who ought to be cutting his teeth doing the Durham Bulls or Toledo Mud Hens or what have you. Maybe develop your craft and announce the Yankees later. Instead, someone decided to skip the development process and start him right at the top in the broadcast capital of the world. Poor decision IMO.

It's Singy. He tweeted that he's doing the games this weekend with Flash.

He's been a PBP announcer for about 8+ years now. He's not brand new.

Apparently, he's thought of enough to do nationally-televised NBA games on ESPN as well as the No. 2 PBP guy for the Nets behind Ian Eagle. So either knows the right people (Fordham alum), or he's pretty good at what he does. I tend to side with the latter.

Kay misses so many road games now I am sure it won't be a problem replacing him for a month.

Im pretty sure this is the one of the few places on the internet that has a good portion of people who actually dislike Ruocco. Everywhere else he seems to be well regarded.

The weird thing is I am not a Ruocco or O'Neill fan and think Michael Kay is terrific. However, I think O'Neill is significantly better when it's him and Ruocco. If that makes any sense.

Yeah, so says people who love Sterling.

He fumbled over trying to explain what was happening on the field a few times during the innings I listened to (a little over 2 innings). Of course Suzyn was no help, as she can't ever describe what's going on. I will admit the Sanchez HR call was good (i heard the clip, not live). But that was an absolute no-doubter off the bat. Roucco struggles with following the batted ball often.

The most amazing thing I heard during my short listen was Ryan trying to teach Suzyn how to use Baseball-Reference. Actually, amazing isn't the right word. Sad is more like it. Jawn and Suzy just go by memory during the games. Not much reality.

I'd sign up for Roucco full time on the Radio if the Yankees are hell bent on cramming him down our throats (which seems apparent). I seldom listen to the games on radio, so if he's gonna be here, he might as well be reading 14 commercials per half inning on WFAN.

I was getting a bit worried about Singleton in the late innings of tonight's game. If he said it once, he said it a half-dozen times: "This afternoon" ... "This afternoon's game." And so on.

I hope he noticed it was night when he got out of the stadium.

I noticed that, too. I assume he was taking the bus back to the hotel, so he wasnt responsible for remembering to turn the headlights on.

It's hard to believe he isn't concerned about this possibility. In 1946, Bing Crosby, perhaps the most successful entertainer of the period 1930-1950, had polyps on his vocal cords removed. He, too, was very anxious--for obvious reasons--that this procedure might impair his voice. It only had the effect--some say--of a slight "darkening" of the voice, lowering it a bit. Others claim this was merely a natural effect of his entering his mid-to-late 40s.

If you earn your living by your voice, no surgery on the relevant part of the throat is going to be taken lightly.
