He was such a weapon in 2017, and while he wasn't AS good last season - he was still effective for the most part. This year? Utter disaster so far.

he needs to be either phantom DLed (which won't be a bad thing for everyone) or sent down to Tampa to get his head re-evaluated.

This is a combo of bad mechanics and things between the ears

Because we understand anything at all about what’s going on in his head.

Nah, this is what he's always been. When his FB was dominant for a season, he could serve as a very good bullpen guy. But he's never had a second pitch, especially not one to neutralize lefty SLG.

This is exactly what I said years back when he got some starts and people were thinking he was going to be a mid-rotation starter (mostly b/c he dominated in AAA). I got lit into a bit back then when I said he would get beat up by lefty power bats and belonged in the bullpen where he may be able to excel. Now he doesn't even belong there.

Not at all surprising. His FB is flat and down a full tick, his slider sucks and he has been a dumpster fire. If all you have is a 95 mph FB, good luck.

And the bonus is that Boone won't be able to use him/the stats guys won't be able to tell Boone to use him ...because he'll be at AAA. Maybe the pitching coach there can help. (Or maybe they need to have Carlos Beltran look at video!)

Beltran looks like a better managerial candidate by the day with Boone's ineptitude.

I thought Hensley Meulens would have been a good choice. He certainly would have been better than Boone.

I wish Chad the best. I know I am a minority (maybe the only one) but I would like to him try to be a starter again at SWB, stretch him out, go back to throwing 5 pitches. We used to have a solid pitching coach at Tampa but he's at SWB. I look back at 2017 and see a solid pitcher. I always thought Green could have been a better starter than Cessa. (now Cessa is in the pen so I just don't know)

lol. Five pitches? He's lucky if he's got two serviceable pitches.

Chad Green is not a starter. He's not anything right now. Without an overpowering FB like the one in 2017, he's AAAA material.

I think it's a proven fact that you can never rely on a guy named Chad longterm.

I don't know about that. Chad Everett was around for the entire 7-year run of "Medical Center." That seems to disprove your theory.

Unrelatedly, Jeremy never had anything good to say about Chad.

Well sure, but after Catwoman stole their voices, neither of them really had anything to say about anything.

He never really had 5 pitches. He had a 4 seam FB, Slider and a cutter. I seriously doubt he had splitter or slinker and threw them for 0.7% and 1.6% of his pitches in 2007.
probably just a pitch that didn't break as much and got confused by the computer.

He's always had a good fastball. He's never really had a GOOD secondary pitch. Even last year the only pitch he had that was above average was his fastball, which has been getting worse every year since 2017. I think it's clear the league figured him out.

Despite its 7-year run, I always thought Medical Center had AAAA stuff, at best.

Thanks. Maybe you and Melancyic (and Larry) are right - and 4 pitches is good. I do use the computer stats because if Coney has difficulty there is NO WAY I can tell and only see the speed (fast or off speed). There is no way I am writing him off with a 1 tick drop in his FB. He can NOT be a one FB pitcher (which is mess up). But I use the 2016 and 2017 data (I felt were solid) and look at who our SP in minors (no more Gio). I see Loaisoga and then Chance Adams and David Hale (I honestly believe Chad is better than the last two) so I would like at least to see Chad Green be given the opportunity because he never got one. Look at just 2015-2016 OK never had 5 (split and change 1-1.5%) but 4 seam FB, sinker, slider, and cutter. 4 pitches. He has composure and has a good FB to build on. He has gotten worst since 2017 (fact) Getting away from Larry and his FB mentality coming out of the dugout will be good for him (my opinion).

Dude, he's never had 4 pitches, much less 5. He really only has two pitches: FB, slider. Stop.

He is not and never was a legit starter prospect. He belongs in the pen. Even there he may not be good enough.
