    2019 Gleyber Torres Thread

It hard to believe that, despite the recent rash of promotions of huge prospects, the Yankees incumbent All-Star second baseman is STILL one of the 10 youngest players on a Major League roster.

Also pretty interesting how 9 of these 10 guys are IFA players. Get them into the system young and get them on the field young.

Last season he got overlooked because of Soto and Acuna.

Andujar's great rookie season also doesn't help.

He became the first Yankee with at least 11 total bases since Hicks had 12 when he hit 3 home runs on July 1, 2018. He's the 46th Yankees from 1908 through now to have at least 11 total bases in a game. Gehrig did it the most times by a Yankee with 11. Rodriguez, Teixeira, and Tony Clark are the only Yankees to do that at least twice in the 2000s.

Worth pointing out that his first four ABs included a single, a double, and two homers. If one of those homers had been a triple instead, of course this would have gotten national media attention. One of the oddities of the game.

Gleyber and Chapman will be forever linked together. The former was traded for the latter.

DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Aaron Judge and Luke Voit are keeping the offense afloat currently.

Can't believe we got him for a 3 month Chapman rental. I wouldn't give him up for a 3 month rental of Mo in his prime. Or heck, even a year of Mo.

Spoken like someone who's been alive for perhaps a half-dozen Yankees' World Series titles.

If I know that it would bring the Yankees a WS title, I would do it without hesitation no matter how much I like him.

I'm happy that the Torres/Chapman trade ended up as a win-win.

    Re: 2019 Gleyber Torres Thread

Theo Epstein went all out to secure a WS for the Cubbies. Manager John Madden was accused of overusing Chapman because it was believed he wasn't going to resign with the Cubs. Used so much that in Game 7 of the WS, Chapman served up a 3-run game tying HR to the Indians.

I laugh when I think of what the cubbies did to get a world series. Now look at them, dumpster fire....

Even after the World Series. Think they'd like to have Eloy & Cease back for Quintana?
