Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees:
    -DFA'd LHP Joe Mantiply
-Released LHP Daniel Camarena from roster
-Returned RHP Jonathan Loaisiga (#43) from rehab & reinstated him from 60-day IL
-Signed RHP Adonis Rosa (#73) to a M.L. contract & selected him to 25-man from
    @swbrailriders
Looks like they added a guy who they could safely DFA. Then again, they're kind of out of options.

I don't think they plan on cutting bait with Rosa yet.

Yes. They have 11 position players, 4 starters, and 10 relievers (including Green). The often changing relievers are currently Adams, Britton, Cessa, Chapman, Cortes Jr., Green, Kahnle, Loaisiga, Ottavino, and Rosa.

Both Sanchez and Judge are in slumps, masked by the team doing well against the nobodies.

How bad do you think these slumps are?

I'm sure the players association is thrilled with the suggestion to go to 26 man rosters next season. That's 30 more MLB jobs available. I'm not sure they are as crazy about limiting the September call-up expansion of rosters.
I meant it more like some of these guys get called up and have an impact on our season and then poof their gone. So to the union they were good enough to help the MLB club out in a jam and their reward is a slice of pizza.

I get it some of them are never going to be MLBers and they are just bit actors supporting the stars of the cast, but many of them have toiled for a while in the minors.

They are bad enough that, combined with the injuries, the arbitration process could get very dicey with both of them this offseason.

Judge has a 2nd place MVP credit to his name.
Sanchez will be a 27 year old catcher with more than 100 career HRs.
I somehow think they will both do quite well in arbitration if it gets to that.

At least Judge gets on base. Gary basically hitting the same way as before his injury. Don't understand why he can't be dropped in the order.

I agree they will do well, but the Yankees are now armed with some ammunition to make the situation messy if they want to try to save a million or two.

Better yet, dropped from the roster for whatever the Yankees can get.

If there's a more overrated player in the game I'd like to know who it is.

I really hope the Yankees explore trading him in the offseason.

Bryce Harper? I mean he's only got 12 years left of the deal after this one.

    He's definitely up there.

Can you imagine if the Yankees made that mistake and signed him?

I don't understand it either. (your earlier post I agreed about keeping him at SWB more than 5 ABs). RISP, they are going to pitch around the 3rd batter to pitch to Sanchez (?1 H in 3 G). I also think it helps batting in the bottom to get out of a slump. If Romine is C why not give him the day off? This is why we post.

I don't mind Gary being the DH tonight. But there are much better options to bat cleanup right now. Batting Gary 6th or 7th might mean less pressure on him and maybe he starts to hit.

There's no way that poll was taken recently.

Yeah, that was my reaction. Even the All-Star break would make no sense, with somebody picking Seattle.

But flip-wise, if this survey were taken before the season started, I would be equally shocked by all the Yankee optimism. I don't think most experts had the Yankees winning the division, but maybe I'm wrong about that.

    Re: 2019 Regular Season Thread

Baltimore became the 15th team from 1908 to the present (all of them from 1971 to the present) to hit at leas 3 home runs, at least 3 doubles, and no singles. The Yankees hitters have done that 4 times, but tonight was the first time the Yankees pitchers allowed that.

Chandler Shepherd was 1-10 with a 7.22 ERA and allowed 1 run in 4 inning in his MLB debut. He had been doing better in the minors recently. He had a 3.89 ERA for Pawtucket last year, but a 10.01 ERA for them this year. He was released/traded/DFAed/waived/whatever (I don't know which one) and went to Norfolk, where he had 5.61 ERA.

If the Yankees win tomorrow, Baltimore would be eliminated from winning the division.
