I have t heard anything. But then until the bone heals he can’t really do much. And after bone heals you figure he needs to rebuild muscle strength around the injury. Injury was 8/3 so I’d guess he’s still in a cast.

According to Bryan Hoch, the update last Wednesday was:

“Encarnacion has been using a hand bicycle and is not wearing a cast. Boone said that Encarnacion’s range of motion has returned, and he is building up to get a bat in his hands. Expected Return: Possibly September.”

I’m surprised he’s out of a cast so quick.

I would think so. I'm not a doctor my guess is that would indicate a hairline fracture, one that doesn't need to be immobilized in cast. So I would guess his return would be on the shorter side of the 4-6 week recovery time table. He may or may not be wearing a removable cast such as when he sleeps of something. I don't know.

The injury was reported as a hairline fracture when it occurred, so your guess is pretty accurate.

I had to ice my ankles for weeks after jumping off last time!

I was asked at work if the Yankees were playing the Cardinals in the world series who would you cheer for. My answer who was at the plate. They said Voit, I said of course the Yankees! PS I would root for every player against the Cardinals, can't stand them. They don't know that at work.....

I'm dying for some LUUUUUUUUKE. I hope he can hold up down the stretch. His OBP and ability get hits really gels well with this line up.......

    @JDPNYY

MLB fan first and foremost, matches win my attention along with winning baseball. I enjoy watching the Yankees play ball especially against division rivals.

My favorite time of the year for watching sports (except for PGA Golf) is baseball playoffs. So much fun.

BTW Sweet Lou is my therapist.

If it makes you feel better I know their roster better than anyone elses

When mowing the lawn or doing any mindless activity I have the MLB app on with WFAN... I'm not listening to KMOX and the Cardinals that's for damn sure...

I couldn't even tell you if they won or lost last night, I could careless. (The Kardinals)

I'll tell you what's careless... hiding the fact that you are a Yankee fan from your co-workers.

Does anyone have any news on Aaron Hicks? I haven't heard a thing.

About a week ago they said his soreness was gone and could begin to throw in 2 weeks, so I’d say he’ll begin to throw next week. Should be able to return soon thereafter.

The latest: Hicks still hasn’t been cleared to throw, dealing with a strain in his right flexor tendon. Hicks could throw in a week, Boone said. “I do expect once that happens,” the manager said, “he should move along pretty quickly. He feels normal. He feels good. Again, it’s something we’re trying for, being conservative with because of the close proximity of the UCL, but he’s been responding well to all of his therapy.”

Thanks for the update. I want to see him get plenty of ABs before October. Much more so than Stanton.

Update: OF Giancarlo Stanton, out since June 26 with a sprained right knee, did agility work in right field after doing some light running Wednesday. The hope is he will take batting practice on the field sometime this road trip.

I think Meredith talked about this last night. This is my great news.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Luis Severino (shoulder) could be cleared for game action in 10 days.
Severino made it through Thursday's simulated game without issue. The plan is for him to pitch a longer sim game in five days before potentially setting out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Lat and shoulder injuries have kept the right-hander out all year, though the Yankees are hoping to have him back for their stretch run in September.

As for Stanton - he better be able to put the bat on the ball when he returns.

It's good news but the window for getting in rehab starts is dwindling. His next simulated game is Tuesday. That puts him on a rehab start on Sunday 9/1. Then the following start will be a minor league playoff game. If all of our affiliates get knocked out in the first round then he will be rushed to the majors after not pitching all season. So expect him to return as a long reliever to build up his pitch count.

And pray if you are a believer.

I still believe our trio of playoff starters will be German, Tanaka and Paxton. The fourth starter, if required, will be an opener (Chad Green, Severino, Cortes).
