Stanton, Severino, Betances, Andujar, Hicks, Sabathia, Ellsbury
    40% of the roatation
    33% of the starting lineup
    A setup guy
A guy who we probably want to stay on the DL

    As per MLB Trade Rumors:

5:04pm: The club announced the move and labeled the injury a shoulder strain. It adds that “tests are pending.”

I know some guys that would slot in nicely at 3B and LF.

    Sorry, had to do it.

Miguel Andujar has a small labrum tear in his right shoulder. He will be treated conservatively for two weeks, but season-ending surgery is on the table.

Absolutely. He is now the everyday 3B and Tyler Wade is now a fixture as the backup infielder.

what a weird injury. I'm pretty sure it happened to no other young player. Makes we wonder how it happened. The science doesn't add up.

In other injury news, tomorrow is the last game of CC's suspension, after which he will presumably go on the IL ... what's the timetable for his return?

At least until Didi gets back, then Tulo might have that job nailed down.

Almost as significant as NOT signing Machado.

Oh, give it a rest! What if we had signed Machado and HE had gotten hurt?

No, I won’t give it a rest. Machado made far more sense for this team than LeMahieu.

And if Machado had gotten hurt, we’d still have Andujar to fill in for him at 3B.

If my comments irritate you, put me on ignore and move on.

Is that what your crystal ball tells you?

There was lots of talk of the Yankees keeping Andujar and converting him into a 1B or DH, so no, I “don’t know it”.

Again, *most likely* false. If the Yankees had signed Machado, it would be extremely difficult to construct a 25-man roster in which Andujar has a spot. Converting him to a 1B with Voit (and Bird) already on the team, or making him a DH with Stanton already on the team, would be huge longshots and would not be nearly as valuable an option as simply trading him for pitching.

    Re: 2019 Health/Injury Performance Thread

When you think about it, despite all the injuries to key hitters, the lineup is still pretty good. Left field might be the weakest spot right now with either Frazier or Tauchman, but if Bird can get something going the rest of the lineup should score enough to win games and keep the team from falling too far out until help arrives. On the other hand the well has run dry, and if yet another starting position player goes down the lineup is going to get considerably worse.
