Cashman doing nothing is negligent at this time. It's been 10 years since we were in the world series, and 1 championship in 2 decades! At this rate, me and george steinbrenner may of seen the last yankees world series game. Something i would of never wanted to share with him.

That shouldn't be surprising as he has to start his spring training throwing program all over again which entails building up arm strength in a manner that the pitcher doesn't re-injured himself. Below is about Michael King's plan in which he's coming back from an elbow injury in early February and he just started throwing at 90 feet this week. For Sevy, he won't start throwing until next week at the earliest, if he's given the ok by the doctor on Monday or Tuesday, I bet it's going to be longer than May 1st. Perhaps 10-15 days into May. They should and will be careful with Sevy. Starting pitchers usually throw at least five games in spring training which is about four weeks alone in the throwing process.

Yankees prospect Mike King (stress reaction) says he’s shooting for a “May 1st-ish” return to full-season ball.

Live BPs, sim games in 2-3 weeks, and then long buildup to 5+ innings as a starter.

“I’m trying every day to speed it up, just because I feel really good,” he said.

First of all we need two SP's, not one ... CC is down too.

Secondly, when CC gets back I would keep German over Cessa because I think German has better stuff and a higher ceiling, and he's just scratching the surface of how good he can be. IMO this kid can develop into a TOTR #2 SP, maybe even a borderline #1

    Unfortunately yes.
As for what they do when CC gets back I think that might depend on how both Cessa and German look after a couple of starts.

Keep in mind, Cessa has been league average or close to.

I think Cessa can replace CC in the short term, and maybe he proves that ST isn't a fluke, in which case we'll have to rethink this thing, but RIGHT NOW my gut tells me German has the much higher ceiling. He has four pitches now and his fastball is mid 90's. Also, unlike Loisaga there is no innings limit on German. He threw about 160 innings last year, so a jump to 200 innings is about normal. IOW's he's ready to start ALL YEAR if need be, and I think he's a potential #2 SP, borderline #1, when he puts it all together and peaks. That may not be this year. Right now he's more of a 4 or 5, but IMO his ceiling is a #2 and maybe a borderline #1. So in closing, I'm cool with Cessa replacing CC in the short term then reconsidering this thing if he pitches well, but the guy who excites me when I consider his longterm potential is Domingo German, and I think the time is NOW to get his pro career started.

He's the main reason I wouldn't sign Gio or Keuchel. I don't want these washed up veterans blocking a kid like German.

Good news. Hopefully the Yanks caught it before it became a real issue, but this is great news.

I don’t know about you, but “pretty normal” doesn’t sound so optimistic.
