    Game of Thrones: Final Season

    Winter is here.

The first (and probably only) trailer dropped just now on HBO's twitter account. I'm sure it'll be on YouTube shortly, but here's the link from twitter.

    https://twitter.com/HBO/status/1102962018728984582?s=20

Yes the trailer is dark and hard to see. No I don't care. I didn't need a trailer at all. I have no idea how they'll end this but I know like with every big show 60% of the people will be upset with the ending.

    Thoughts on Episode 1 ??

Nothing but a bunch of reunions basically. Also I thought every episode was going to be longer than an hour ??

With only 6 episodes left; I hope they spread out the action somewhat; feel like a lot of main characters will make it until episode 3 then we will lose 10+ characters in one episode.

I'm just glad they got all the reunions out of the way in one episode.

That Targaryan symbol on House Umber's wall with their lord in the center got me thinking. Everyone is talking about TNK being a Stark. Could he be a Targ? Had can, after all, ride a dragon.

    That scene was sick.

It seemed like a lot of set up but not much really going on.

I don't recall ever ordering HBO so I'm thinking there was a free trial we had this weekend to try and sucker us in for the rest of the season. In the past I've just watched them in the summer when the DVD set comes out. This year I'm considering springing for an HBO subscription and cancelling when the season is over.

Yes, but instead of that happening for three episodes it happened in one. We had a really cool kill and Jon found out he's banging his aunt. Not too shabby for a premier.

    There is carnage coming.

    A question for the fans:

If this was like Netflix and all 6 episodes dropped last night at 9, would you have stayed up nearly all night watching all 6?

On a Sunday I'm too old for that.
On a Friday, I've have finished it before Monday but would have not been bouncing around the internet for fear of spoilers.

I liked the episode, I thought the reunions were done well and also reminded you that some of the characters still have issues. I'm curious to see how Jon/Dany unfolds now that he knows that he's the rightful king and that she burned Sam's brother and father.

I didn't know the symbol at the Umber house was also the Targaryen sign. That's an interesting twist.

I would have to take today off and watch as much as I could at night and then the rest the next morning.

Not me, but I would have called in sick today, and watched them all before touching the internet.

If Jon continues with his current logic, he won't fight for it. He said the title means nothing. It's about the living and he pledged himself. Of course that could change but I'm thinking he won't.

I wasn't sure at first, but once it was set on fire I knew it was Targaryen. Which was not something I saw coming.

Did some research into the symbol at house Umber. Turns out itís probably not a Targaryen symbol. Weíve seen it many times, and itís most likely the symbol for the children of the forest. Which predates the Targs and probably has nothing to do with them. I was starting to wonder if the NK was a Targ.

Tend to agree. I like the quick pacing.

And your point about the dragon riding is an interesting one.

I have no idea if it matters but very few scenes are done to waste time. Everything has a purpose. And we've been told only Targs can ride dragons. Could be complete bs but maybe not.

You're right on both counts - it might not matter but it is interesting that, throughout, we've been told only Targs can dragon ride.

I suppose there could be some tie in. But seriously, woundn't undead Night King who can raise the dead and create javelins that kill a dragon in a single throw probably trump all that?

Also factor in the Night King was created by the Children hundreds of years before the Targs moved from Valyria to Westeros.

He does have that ice-white hair, though....

Wow, okay there are a few wow factors on this episode...not full blown yet but we’re getting to the endgame. There are some comical moments as well.

And another thing, don’t read the fan theories all over the web. Little things here and there (even if it’s not true) would start to ruin the surprise element of the show.

That was a good episode. I was tense throughout and enjoyed it thoroughly. The funny lines hit a good up note, but the suspense was deep.

Fair play, Iím not sure I could have asked for anything more from the opening two episodes of the final season.
