If Gittens or Holder or Vizcaino gets a shot on a major league roster I will be happy for them.

I wasn't sad on Torrens' behalf. I was bummed that he was selected and not sent back. Even though the Padres selecting a player that young with such limited experience and coming off injury was thought to be a low risk, he should have been protected over some of their other choices that offseason.

The Padres were smart, even though I think it's not good generally for players to be exposed that young with that large a jump to the big leagues. I hope this doesn't become a thing. Probably won't as teams now have had to think a bit harder about protecting strong talent in those same circumstances.

He signed with the Yankees in May, 2016 just days before his 19th birthday.

Though he is technically part of the 2015 IFA class he signed after the cut off. So he got an extra year out of that. He is eligible for the Rule 5 next year.

Really surprised. Gittens would be a better fit for a team with that need.

It also looks like Rony Garcia went #1 overall to the Tigers in the MLB portion.

MLB phase - Player has to be active on 26 man roster for the entire year, if not injured or he can be offered back to original club.

MILB phase - Once selected, they keep them.

So funny though how we have the first guy taken and no had him in the top 20 available.

Carter has a real good arm but secondary has to improve.

Outside Yankee prospect huggers, he is not valued much.
