Schmidt is as bad tonight as he was good in the Tampa opener.

Semple is an underrated, sleeper prospect. He is too advance for Charleston at this point.

He spent spring training working with the AA-AAA guys and was taking it to them.

"He is too advanced for Charleston" might still be an understatement! In his first two outings of the year:

    9.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 21 K

    Deivi Garcia:

    4 IP, 4H, 2R (0 ER), 2BB, 6K

Per Nick Flammia on Twitter, faced 7 full-counts.

So, lots of nibbling so far.

Done after 4 IP. Struggled to command the curve and change-up today. Plate was squeezed a bit.

It's impressive to produce that pitching line when you consider that he couldn't command his curve and change.

Roansy Contreras has a quality arsenal.

    92-94 (95) downhill

A mid 80's change that flashes quality sink and a high 70's hook with terrific bite

Control over command, up a little early. Effort level medium high.
An athletic dude with a quick arm. Throws a lot of change ups.

I'm happy some of our pitching prospects are doing well. But it's hard to get excited until they're having sucess in the upper minors, making 25+ starts, and throwing 150+ innings

Nice to see 2 Yankees listed in BAs Top 12 IFA Sleeper list. Both were signed from last years crop....

Listed first was 6'-3" RHP Juan Carela. When he signed he was about projection hitting 92.. Now Juan is topping out at 96 with a sharp curve and good control. Juans delivery is described as effortless...

Carlos Verdecia SS.. The Cuban signed SH SS is said to have a bat and an eye that projects well with some pop. Carlos is said have soft hands but his arm projects more as a 2nd basemen.

Went to the SWB game today...

Estrada was impressive...Not the biggest guy but strong...His first shot was a bomb, the second was a rope..He mis played a ball at second but all and all showed good range and still has that cannon arm...

Hutcheson pitched out of a bases loaded jam and only yielded two hits in 6inn. I was more impressed by Brothers. He seems to short arm the ball and had the hitters swinging late. No gun readings today but i would say mid 90s for sure. Might be a nice find...

Zehner needs some love...Good at bats and played the hell out of LF...

Deglin was catching today and he is smooth. Nice glove and quick release. Will he hit??..I don't think much but nice insurance to have.

Billy Fleming DH'ed today and went 2-4 with a nice drag bunt...I so want this great kid to get CofC..

Nice scouting report, thanks for sharing. Was wondering about Brothers, definitely someone to keep an eye on for bullpen depth.

I like Estrada for the role we were hoping Tyler Wade would grow into, but probably not until next year. I wonder if they'll give him time in the OF particularly CF later in the year. I could see him replacing Wade in the infield though if he keeps hitting and our other infielders don't get healthy

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

Went to the SWB game today here are a few things i saw...

Gio being our 5th starter might happen but after what i witnessed today makes me feel he'll need more time..Gio was Breaking ball after Breaking ball and although they have movement it was more loopy then biting. He left a few up and they have little pepper on them so he gave up some real hard contact. He seems to be able to pitch out of trouble at times and works super fast but if he is anywhere near being ready i'm not expecting much...

Jake Barrett pitched well. No gun again but seems to have some good pop on his ball and was throwing a sharp slider..

Deglin hit a bomb which is nice to see..The kid can catch..If he can hit a little from the left side as a BUC he'll prove good insurance.

Estrada is hot right now..He was right on just about every pitch.

Ambergey looked good as well.. He put together some nice at bats and does a nice job in RF.

One note about Vlad Jr... The crowd was on him by me about his weight...Boy he looks soft as hell, but you can see he has easy power. It will be interesting to see his progression in the coming seasons.

I would say on average about 50 or so...I would say about 25 AAA, 15 AA and the rest between A ball teams..Mostly Penn League..I also get to a few Indy league games and if we have a pending draft pick playing in the CCBL i will try to see a game or two..I highly recommend seeing A CCBL game if you can...Very Cozy and informal. No issues talking to players and scouts...
