Interesting. But something that seems like a small detail that can easily be fixed and or modified in the rule to accommodate a single plane when the strike zone is defined be that front of the plate, middle of the plate, back or the plate or wherever.

I must have had the rule confused with lower level leagues, possibly non-profession even.

Anyone have any hot takes on which prospects will be dealt, which will be protected and which will be left exposed to the Rule 5 draft?

    Cashman needs to get busy!

And then, start trading some of these guys.

    Use Abreu's ranking to trade.

The #1 from Ď18 not even making the Top 10 is not very reassuring.

I like AA. He needs to put it together yes, but he can really dominate at times. If you can get a good return I guess move him but otherwise I hope he gets his shot next year in the Bronx.

I like seeing third-party outlets putting faith in Medina.

If his late season improvements are sustainable he can be a tippy top prospect.

Going to need to do something. He can't just hang out on the 40 man roster another year.

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

Yeah, I love Abreu's potential, and would be cool if the Yankees think he's going to legitimately develop, but there's a pretty decent 40-man crunch and he's a prime candidate to get traded because of the combination of high ceiling and stalling/stagnating at the upper levels. He'd probably yield a decent return in one of Cashman's recycling trades (recycling the remaining potential of a prospect in the upper minors for lower minors talent on a longer timeline).

I'd love him to develop here, but at this point I get it if their internal evaluations said clear a roster spot and return good talent before it's too late.

Yea move him to the bullpen or preferably trade him. His walk rate is climbing and k rate declining. His stuff should be good enough to entice a team in rebuilding mode.

I so agree. He has the stuff of an Ace when controlled. We just need two of these young arms coming up to develop!!

Huh? Of course the strike zone is 3D. Itís always been 3D, and thatís how itís called. If electronic ups canít do that, then theyíre not good enough to replace humans.

One more year if the return isn't good would make me happy.

Watching him the last two years, he is a bullpen arm for me based on what you said and age. He lacks pitchability and consistency with more for a relief pitcher mindset. Top self stuff though. Reminds me of when Betances was a starter in the minors. Its bullpen or trade IMO.
Cashman told Accorsi, ďI feel the responsibility of millions of Yankee fans on my shoulders, fans who take this very seriously and for which every game is very important. I think of that every day.Ē

Yea in a very similar spot to Betances, not quite the stuff of Betances though nor the K rate, but heís got upside and the bullpen is definitely his best bet right now. They need to simplify things for him and let him get more regular work as a reliever to establish some kind of rhythm

The Ď18 list had Torres as #1, but I assume you are talking about Chance.

Nice to see Duran getting some respect. System is definitely stout if Contreras, Gomez, King, Peirera/Cabello donít crack the top 10.
