Thanks very much for the info. Hopefully he'll be in rotation in 2021.

Best of both worlds...he is showing the elite talent but also having a few struggles. Should help in the long run

Seems like he always gets bit by one big hit. Otherwise, liking what I am seeing.

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

Remember when Andrei Kirilenko made the 5x5 stat popular in basketball?

Luis Medina has been trying to do the same for baseball, and he came really close tonight.

    4.1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 5 K

On the positive side he did settle down after the first, an inning that looked like:

    1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 2 WP

So the rest of the way he went

    3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Canaan Smith was 3-6 and is now hitting .339 on the season.

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

A few things from last nights Thunder game...

Rony Garcia... Big, Thick guy. High Butt, Thick Thigh and uses them well with some leg thrust. Was 92-93 first two innings then was 94-96 until 6th. Mixes in a nice curve and CU. I like what i saw and works real quick..Love that in a prospect.

Jun Hoy Park...Filled out a bit since seeing him in Pulaski..Still runs well..Seems to work the count well..Seems like he can stick at SS but not a big fan of the 3/4 sling throws to first.. I could see him taken in R5 if not moved or protected.

Deivi Garcia... He didn't pitch last night but had the chance to stand next to him and he is small...5'-8"ish, Thin..Pretty much like a young Pedro, but hair shorter..

Chris Gittens..Real nice guy, Thick build, you see the Power for sure but works the count real well..Nice prospect..

Kaleb Ort...A little long in the Tooth but nice insurance for a BP. Good to see the velo back now hitting 97

Trevor Lane... Small Lefty RP..Shocked to see him throw 94 with some drop..Could be a valued piece.

Rashad Crawford... Seems to have reworked his stance. Good thing..Super good athlete i never thought would ever hit but showed improvement. Top flight OF'er

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

Ben Ruta, Hoy Park and Chris Gittens are the top 3 in the Eastern League (AA) in batting. Gittens has some serious power, although he does K quite a bit.

Rasheed Crawford is #11. This, from a guy who has had poor hitting stats the past few years.

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

Funny how the minors work isn't it? Katoh hits .300+ at AAA gets demoted. That must be horrible on the psyche, i guess these guys now... Know they just have to keep grinding and eventually if they are putting up the numbers some team will give them a shot. Not saying katoh deserved a shot.. But RUTA has hit at every level. It may be time for his AAA chance, remember the kid we traded to pitsburgh yeah i forgot his name haha, well he skipped AA to the majors that year with the yankees. I suppose the scouts know best at the end of the day?

Funny we have to find out injury updates by sneaky minor league photos and than put our opinion on it. I would agree with yours, he's probably just doing basic stuff, but not game ready yet.

This thread and the forum in general used to be much more active. Not sure what happened buts many long time regulars no longer post.

That's not exactly what i meant, i mean google and checking twitter feeds still yields nothing, it's like a secret how mike king, florial are doing..Very important prospects to this teams future.

It was just a general comment that we used to have more people post in these forums.

Re: Yankees 2019 Minor League News And Notes

There's nobody who's already a big name and really exciting tearing it up right now.

There's no Montero, Hughes, Joba, Severino, Judge, Sanchez, Gleyber, or even Frazier at this point. When there's one of those, there's much more activity here.

I suspect after the midseason updates, if Deivi remains healthy and his usual self (or better) we'll start to see some more traffic/posting.
