Diaz signed for $1.2M, which means we'll probably be seeing a trade for some IFA cash soon? The Yankees pool was about $5.5M I think, no?

Is this common? Can they actually declare the signing with totals without having the money in the account?
    Calmer than you are

I wasn't surprised by it - I feel like we've dealt with it before. I think they're going to make sure that Dominguez is OFFICIAL, but the others are maybe "agreed"?

EDIT: Last year Osiel Rodriguez agreed with the Yankees on J2, but didn't sign until after the Voit trade on July 29th when they acquired the money necessary to make it official.

Thanks. Kind of shady that MLB allows this type of thing to occur so openly.

Kind of like how Jimmy Butler agreed to a max contract with the Miami Heat before the Heat had actually cleared enough cap space to make it allowable.

I think it happens in every sport.

Donny Rowland said he had to ask scouts if Jasson Dominguez was as good on a daily basis as he was when he went to see him. They always said yes.

"It was a little bit shocking and very impressive." #Yankees

"He is strong..." Donny Rowland says of 16yo Jasson Dominguez. Said he has high power and hit grades, noted his exit velo and said his launch angle is "in the happy zone."

Last one from Donny Rowland on Jasson Dominguez: "He's the kind of player that makes the hair on your arm stand up when you watch him." #Yankees

On the elite comparisons the Yankees’ top international prospect signed today has drawn (Mantle, Trout), Yanks International scouting director Donny Rowland says:

“He’s going to be Jasson Dominguez.”

Rowland doesn’t believe it’s fair to compare the 16-year-old to past stars.

    More
But he does say he’s got an elite toolset that the organization is confident will translate ... and soon, too.

An underrated signing the Yankees made today was OF Jhon Diaz, who was ranked 18th among IFA's by http://MLB.com . Diaz has mature mechanics and discipline at the plate with plus speed, according to a scout who has seen him before

BA has us with 13 signings so far. Must be some INTL money coming in via trades.

The signing is not official at this point. The Yankees have only acknowledged 11 signings today while BA has us at 13.

The two the Yankees haven't announced are for Jhon Diaz and Enger Castellano since they don't currently have the pool money for them.

Once they acquire the requisite money then they can actually put pen to paper and sign them to a contract.

    Re: 2019 International Free Agency

MLB Pipelineís answer to a question about where Jason Dominguez will be ranked:

Some scouts have told me that Jasson Dominguez may be the best 16-year-old international prospect they've ever seen. Signed by the Yankees for $5.1 million on July 2, he's a switch-hitter with well above-average raw power from both sides of the plate, well above-average speed and a plus arm who could become a plus hitter and a plus defender in center field.

There is some risk to go with all that ceiling, because Dominguez is so young and has yet to face anything close to big league-quality pitching. I put together our Yankees Top 30 and I'll give you a sneak preview by telling you that he'll rank No. 3 when we unveil the new list. As for the Top 100, all I will say is that I believe he'll have the highest ranking we've ever given an international amateur immediately after he signed in July.

Iím surprised we didnít get any slot money in a trade. Maybe we did, as someone suggested, get some in the Gray trade. Maybe the Harvey trade has details to come.
