Oscar Madisbum: Judging from what youíe seen over the years, is it better for a team to use all your IFA money to sign one presumed 50+ player like Jasson Dominguez (supposedly going to the Yankees) or to spread the money around given how young these guys are? Thanks

Keith Law: Iíd spread the money around. I havenít seen Dominguez, but Iíve heard heís the best player in the class but carries substantial risk factors.

Cartoons Plural: Jasson Dominguez has gotten Wander Franco-level hype, have you any thoughts on the future Yankees prospect?

Keith Law: If heís getting that kind of hype itís not warranted. But I havenít heard that either.

I think we need to move some bodies to get some more IFA cash..Maybe Ace, Ford, and few others could bring some in..

The more I think of the current system, the more I think that it's good for the Yankees. The talent pool in IFA is so big that you couldn't buy them all. Teams normally would spend all the cap on the top 40-50 IFA but the talent pool is much deeper than that. After the top 40-50 IFA everyone could only spend the same amount on players and the Yankees network and exposure in Latin America would give them a huge competitive advantage.

    Re: 2019 International Free Agency

Chimmy Chonga: Jasson Dominguez’ prospect ranking mid-season 2020 is what…

    12:33
Kiley McDaniel: We’ve heard some very bullish accounts from clubs that think he should go comfortably in the top 100 the moment he signs. Wander Franco went in the 101-132 area when he signed and I think that’s about as high as 16 year old have been put in recent memory.

Big Joe Mufferaw: Is Yoan Moncada a good comp for Jasson Dominguez, or just a lazy comp?

    12:59
Kiley McDaniel: The raw tools are similar but Dominguez is hitting the market with those tools 3 years younger, so you have to think there’s a chance Dominguez is just better.

    1:00
Kiley McDaniel: But we didn’t have a ton of game context to know what Moncada’s limitations would be and that could also be true for Dominguez

    Re: 2019 International Free Agency

Yankees are favorites to sign #18 John Diaz as well

ďStrong, durable and on the smaller size, Jhon Diaz has a lot in common with players like Ozzie Albies and Rougned Odor when the big leaguers were teens.

Don't be fooled by Diaz's stature, this teen can play, and he has power now with the potential for more in the future. Among his biggest assets are his approach at the plate and his good bat speed through the strike zone. He consistently makes hard contact and he drives the ball to all fields. Scouts praise his smooth swing and hitting mechanics.

The teen is plus runner who has the type of speed that can make defense rush their throws. He has the type of baseball instincts that can turn an errant throw into extra bases. On defense, he has the potential to be an above-average center fielder with an above-average arm. He already plays with confidence and performs well in games.

Diaz trains with German Rosario and participated in the Dominican Prospect League in Santo Domingo. The Yankees are the favorites to sign him.ď

I wonder what became of Yennier Cano from Cuba? He was eligible to sign in March and had a showcase in Fla. but never saw anything of his signing?

More talk of an international draft. This would be a huge negative for us.

Looked for a moment like Yoelkis would get posted before the US Govít put a stop to the process. I would imagine heíll be cleared to sign in the next 12 months as part of the upcoming 2019 signing class

    Re: 2019 International Free Agency

Fangraphs has us projected to sign the 35th IFA this J2. Enger Castellanos, A 3rd baseman. Enger has above Power, Arm and bat speed the question is his hit tool.

The Yanks also may be in on a pitcher from Taiwan... I would think though after signing the 3 players were on, unless we get some IFA cash he'll sign else where.

    Re: 2019 International Free Agency

BA no longer covering J2 market with rankings.

    https://www.baseballamerica.com/stor...y-2-prospects/

That's why we have a new plan for how we're going to cover the top 2019 international signings that's different from what we typically do. Normally, we review each team's international signing class the following year beginning in March, with scouting reports on every player who signed for at least $125,000. Those International Reviews end up containing around 300 scouting reports on international signings.

Instead, we are going to move those International Reviews earlier in the calendar to publish them later this year, after the end of the 2019 season. That gives us the opportunity to give you better information on these players. The reports will account for how players look in the Tricky League (an informal league for July 2 signings), U.S. instructional league and Dominican instructs. That means our July 2 coverage will be delayed a few months, but the end result will be more comprehensive coverage earlier and better quality information that, I hope, adds more value for our readers and is fair to everyone involved in the international baseball community.

No, he's not in Tanaka/Ohtani/Darvish class. Also he's a bit HR prone. He led the league in giving up HR last season.

Jessie Sanchez tweeted big news coming up about the O's and J2...I hope it has nothing to do with our Projected signings.. So much is being made about teams locking in prospects at 13 and 14.

Hoping to hear about some surplus Yankee prospects getting traded for international spending money soon.

For what its worth, FanGraphs has Jhon Diaz ranked 7th on their top 40 list (he's 18th on MLB's).

As long as we sign Jasson Dominguez, I don't care about the others. Just sign that kid!!! The deal should be announced tomorrow.
