    Mets send Wilmer Flores packing

I just heard the Mets just made Wilmer a free agent. I always thought he was a good utility player. Should the Yankees have any interest with him?🙂

No, they have plenty of utility infielders on their roster already.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

He really doesn't have much range at the middle infield positions, so yeah he's a pass for me.

I don't want him because I really would rather not root for someone named Wilmer.

...but think how much fun you would have saying:

JDPNYY is not a fan of Wilmer.

He could always change his name to Ronald. Then you could be happy not rooting for him.

I always hear the name in Mr. Ed's voice.

Wilmer's only 27 y.o. and, imo, he's become both a more dangerous hitter with time, and a more disciplined one. I think he's better than most give him credit for being. Wilmer's like a poor man's Jonathan Schoop, and the two are only weeks apart age wise. I like both of them. Still, you figure the Yankees bring in another infielder/shortstop to fill in for Didi at short for the first 1/2 of '19. W/the Yankee lineup already overweighted on the right-hand side and a # of internal options to fall back on, don't think Wilmer lands here w/the Yankees.

You're in need of a right-hand hitting infielder w/some pop and you're on a budget, you could do worse than either Schoop or Wilmer fit the bill with Wilmer signing for a good deal less and for one year. Coming off the year he had, you figure Schoop signs for much less than he'd have gotten as well had he played up to the back of his bubble gum card. Like I said, both are interesting similar type FA's. Depending how this off-season plays out, I could live with either of these two on my roster.

That's funny, I always hear it in Sydney Greenstreet's.
