Bonds should absolutely get in at least. Had a 99.9 WAR before he even started taking steroids.

Assuming we know when he started using. Which seems pretty likely just before his 73 HR season. So 4 of him MVP are about as tainted as can be.

That said Pettitte who has a confirmed failure isn't getting in if other cheaters with better numbers aren't getting in.

My stance is there are users in already so why not open the flood gates with a "best of the steroid era wing" in Cooperstown.

I mean JHC the guy who turned a blind eye and encouraged it is in the Hall of Fame. So the face of the steroid era in commissioner Bud is in, no player should have it held against him at this point. It's a totally hypocritical stance.

His admission to using HGH while injured will hurt him in the eyes of the PED guard of voters. Personally, my feeling is that 1) since HGH was not banned when he used it in 2002 (it was banned in 2005) 2) he used the HGH to recover from an elbow injury and not to gain a competitive advantage and 3) that he owned up to the use of the drug immediately, he should get a pass, but there will be those BBWAA voters who will never vote for a "PED user".
That is what I have always believed. Unlike Bonds and Clemens Andy did not use the stuff when he pitched. Only to recover from an injury before the substance was banned. Plus he admitted it.

The problem is that no one knows if he only used it for recovery other than himself. We trust him because we want to trust him.

Very true. I think it's completely plausible Andy's story is true. I don't, however, assume it's true. (I also think it's irrelevant to his HOF candidacy).
