Probably be a transition year with Hicks in center and Florial as the 4th outfielder, just like Gardner was to Cabrera. Could be as early as next year if Florial has a bust out year in the minors.

For them to reverse that now we’d have to offer A LOT more. Would have to include probably Chad Green and Loaisiga in addition to Florial and Bird to even get them thinking about it.
The Indians would just laugh at it. Bird doesn't have much trade value so it's basically a trade of Kluber for Florial.

Florial is ranked outside top 100 prospects by both Baseball America and Fangraphs.

Yea even with Green and Loaisiga it’s a weak offer especially for a guy that they’re not looking to trade. Gleyber might be the only piece we have that could get them talking and we know that’s not happening. Even Andujar they weren’t interested in when he was available. But who knows maybe the Indians will have some bad luck this year and be deadline sellers. That’s the only way a trade like this could happen even then they’d probably get better offers elsewhere

He’s striking out in roughly 30-33% of his at-bats in the Rookie League and in A-ball. Unless he starts making some critical adjustments, that doesn’t bode well for his chances in the majors where he’ll be facing far better pitching.

When is the last time the Yankees had a true shut down ace (that lasted for the entire season)?

Yeah, but it’s been nearly a decade. Kind of sad we haven’t had an ace since then. Before that we had a year of CMW and Mussina.

So maybe 5 years of the last 20 or so.

2020 rules: every pitcher must pitch to 3 batters.
Wow, that makes our bullpen a lot more valuable. Mediocre speciality relievers aren’t going to be very useful. You have to use guys you can trust for an inning.

It’s goijg to add some strategy to the game, like IBB to get a reliever out of the game.

Severino threw 200 IP and finished 3rd in ERA just 2 years ago. I'd say that qualifies.

And one we could trust the entire regular season and postseason? David Cone. That's over 20 years ago.

I also have faith in Tanaka, more than I do Severino in a must or postseason game, but "shut down ace the entire season," as ThePinStripes was asking?

I understand the ramifications of a keuchel signing, it hurts the prospect train... , but we need someone else, you can't go into the season with cessa, lasagna and german. And 2 of the 3 starting 5-10 games.

Yea I think they have to sign Keuchel. ESP now since Sevy is out until May 1st. But I still don’t think they will.

I'd wager a good amount of money he doesn't start a game in May.

You don't just get shoulder inflammation that shuts you down this early on such a light workload. It's not a sore shoulder, it's inflammation in the joint. The same joint that overnight saw a big drop on velocity last season and never got it back.

We're already down Severino for 1/3 of the season and CC for 1/6th of it.

And that's BEST case scenario. Relying on a guy who pitched 160IP for the first time and a 36 year old for 40% of our other starts.

Looks a lot like Cessa and German will be 4th and 5th starters until CC & Sevy are back.
