Oh I know. Judge doesnt like away games... but that isnt because of the ball park (or altitude) IMO. His HRs go out anywhere. Im not sure why Judge struggles so much on the road to be honest. It is a bit concerning however.

    Fair point though.

Coors field hitters with bad splits worry me though.

Indeed. You know your home ballpark the best, and so do your pitchers. That's just the way it is. You can have a favorite away ballpark to hit in, usually because their pitchers aren't the best.

It obvious no one player or even group of players can guarantee a World Series. The idea is to add as many great players possible to increase your odds of winning. It's as simple as that. In a window such as the Yankees currently have, there is no better time to do so.
If a guaranteed ring is the criteria for signing a player, there are no humans you can ever sign. You'll have to have an empty roster.

He has had 6 more ABs at home than away in his career. He looks like a classic "Take advantage of the thin air" hitter to me based off that. His defense is obviously great though
I would much rather just sign Manny, but Arenado hits in the clutch and we need that more than anything imo.

Something is off about Judge on the road. It's definitely not do to a lack of ability or being a product of YS3.

Not too late to sign Machado and flip Andujar+ for Bauer...

Want no part of Bauer, think he'd be a disaster in NY with his off the field craziness..

I'm more interested in what he would do on the field. And he'd instantly be the best starter on the Yankees.

I guess we didn't need a 3B. Good work Cash monies!!

Was Josh Donaldson the best free-agent signing of 2019?

The voting for Best Free-Agent Signing of the year was as surprising as it was confusing. The confusing part, we’ll get to shortly. The surprising part was that a guy who tied for first place in this voting was a fellow who played in just 52 games last year – and is coming off a season in which his OPS plummeted by 143 points.

That guy would be Josh Donaldson, fresh off a one-year, $23-million deal with the Braves, which he agreed to over Thanksgiving weekend, presumably while chomping on leftover mashed potatoes. We think there are two things we can learn from this, neither of which involves a mashed-potatoes recipe:
    1) There’s nothing that modern baseball executives love more than one-year deals, even if they’re for more dollars than any previous one-year free-agent position-player deal in history.
    2) There sure are a lot of people in baseball who think Josh Donaldson can still play if healthy. And they would be correct!

Did you know that, despite two straight years battling pesky calf injuries (attention: Francisco Lindor), Donaldson owns the highest OPS-Plus (138) of any active infielder in baseball who doesn’t play first base? Just Matt Carpenter (130) is even close. And the only seven active players at any position who rank ahead of him are Mike Trout, Joey Votto, Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols, Paul Goldschmidt, Giancarlo Stanton and Bryce Harper.

So if he can make it through spring training without one or both of his calf muscles barking, Josh Donaldson has a chance to be one of 2019’s biggest difference-makers.

“This guy,” said one NL exec, “has the greatest risk/reward of the winter.”

You dont think Bauer would be a nut case here in NY too? Except in NY, he will get flamed by the media. Im sure it would affect his performances. Dont see a NY thick skin there.

And Miggy is the 3B for the future. Might as well get used to it.

Wonder how all this plays out. I think Harper is landing in Philadelphia for sure but by some miracle of god the cash rich Phillies have decided not to bid against themselves. Nobody is giving away free multi tack-on years of $30M on the back end anymore, it's just not happening. Machado on the other hand, I have no idea where he is going. Yankees have Andujar so they aren't desperate and nobody else is going to go above low 200's for him.

Seems like the only possible conclusion is for these guys to settle for 6 or 7 year contracts, which will be at full price, and then get what they actually are worth after that time is up. These players have nothing to complain about, they need to stop being so greedy and get with the program

IDK, it's a very binary contract. He's either going to be an all star or a dud. $23M/yr is probably what he's worth if he was healthy and produced last year.
