Final spot for all star game

Voting is on for the final spot. Come on Yankees fans vote for Stanton. You know the Red Sox fans will be voting for Benintendi(sp) in droves.

Yep, and you know what? Benintendi deserves the spot more than Stanton does. I will abstain.

yeah he kinda does can we vote for snell

my problem with AS voting is even though it' has gotten much better in recent yrs

IMO instead of focusing on just this yr they should look at after the vote last yr

and the 1st 1/2 of this yr

slow starters get screwed and stanton gets nothing for that great 2nd 1/2

I would rather Stanton rest up for the stretch run.
Standings: Big Inning 32-16; Blue Cut 27-21; Shoo Fly 26-22; Husk 22-26; Frank Pierce 21-27; Iowa City 16-32.

    Truth.

Back in the 60s, the All Star Game was a really big deal. It was a chance to see Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Frank Robinson, Bob Gibson.....all on the field at the same time. There was no interleague play back then. Unless some of these guys faced off in the World Series, they weren't ever going to be on the same field.

Today, the game just doesn't seem to be the same. There's not the same anticipation. The traditional three-day break has become an interminable 4-day hiatus from games that matter. While, back then, you agonized about whether or not Roy White would make the All Star team, today, you don't care much.

Yeah, I'll readily accept having the Yankees take a couple days off to heal, refresh, and rejuvenate, and leave the All Star Game to other teams.

"But what people tend to forget...is that being a Yankee is as much about character as it is about performance; as much about who you are as what you do."

Things I'd like to see happen this week.

Judge drop out of the All Star game - tired.
Chapman decline his invitation - knee.
Sevvy opt out of the All Star game - needs to see family.
Torres head to a rehab stint instead of the All Star game.

Someone other than Stanton win the "FINAL SPOT!!!!!!"

Every player decline the Home Run Derby and it gets cancelled.

I'd be happy if I just got 6 of those wishes.

    yeah all true

    but we aren't 12 anymore

it is what is a celebration of the game we love

and a chance to have some kids watch who normally don't watch BB

sure having the players rest is ideal

but I like to see those players that I like who want to be there get there wish

besides who knows what they are going to do on there days off

In regards to Torres - are players on the DL allowed to play in the ASG? Technically, he would be eligible to come off the DL (went on July 5), but I feel like the Yankees will wait until after the ASG.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

These all star appearances matter for young players like Severino/Torres/Judge etc. Let the kids go enjoy themselves for a bit.

I'd rather they get those days off than days off when real games are being played. That's just me.

I mean as a selfish fan I agree, but if I was a player, I would want to be there.

As far as I am personally concerned the AS Game has outlived it's usefulness. It has evolved, in what I feel, is a boring four hours

Aguilar is a no-brainer. Guy came out of nowhere to propel teh Brewers to the best record in the NL right now. He deserves to be there.

I picked Stanton, because he's a member of the Yankees. What can I say, just being honest here.

Aroldis Chapman available to close out games this weekend but feels itís smart to rest left knee (tendinitis) over the All-Star break and be fresh for the second half. Decision not to pitch at DC was his.

I know he came here under a cloud but

he has really been great since he's been here

a hell of an athlete and great team player

And never a candidate for the "Final spot for all star game," this thread's title. Sorry, but I groped for a hat when I got out of bed this morning and the "Thread Policeman" hat was handy.
