The Golden State Warriors are in the Western Conference Finals again.

Without Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the Dubs eliminate the Houston Rockets in six games.

The Dubs will take on the winner of the Denver Nuggets-Portland Trail Blazers series in the Western Conference Finals that start next week.

The next big series James Harden and Chris Paul win will be the first big series they win. Great regular season players, playoffs meh.

Especially with James Harden being careless with the ball with the Rockets facing elimination.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Basketball Season Thread

The 2019 NBA playoffs are down to their Final Four in the Conference Finals.

In the East, it will be Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks who are in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2001 and looking for their first NBA Finals appearance since losing to the late John Havilcek and the Boston Celtics in 1974.

But standing in their way is Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors who make their second Eastern Conference Finals appearance in the last four years thanks to Kawhi's memorable buzzer beater that eliminated the Philadelphia 76ers in seven.

Meanwhile in the West, the two-defending NBA World Champion Golden State Warriors are in the Western Conference Finals for the fifth consecutive years, but they will be without Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins. KD is nursing a mild strain in his right calf while Boogie is still out with a torn quad.

The Dubs will take on Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and the Portland Trail Blazers who make their first Final Four appearance since 2000 and are looking for their first NBA Finals appearance since 1992 where they lost to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in six.

Rip City has done well since their main big man Jusuf Nurkic went down with a leg injury.

It should be an exciting Final Four in the Association. The Eastern Conference winner will have home-court for the NBA Finals since both the Bucks and Raptors have better records than both the Warriors and Blazers.

While they had statistically one of the 3 best chances to get top pick the expected value was 3.7. At least they didnít drop max spots like Phoenix and Cleveland.

I know, it's just funny they haven't really gotten a break since 1984.

    No frozen envelope this time.

But I hope this year’s results discourage full out tanking like the Knicks did last year and the 76ers did for nearly half a decades worth of the process.

GSW built through draft Curry 6, Thompson 11, Green 2nd round. Then made smart FA decisions and trades.

Right, but the Spurs run a great organization. The Knicks are going to have to rely on tanking and depleting their roster so they can sign max contract guys.

But it won't matter how much quality talent the Knicks bring in if they don't have a quality coaching staff surrounding that.

Since New Orleans is such a cluster of a team too, any chance Zion pulls a Eli Manning and refuses to play there?

It's possible, it's happened before I think but not since Kiki Vandaway(SP?)
But why on earth would he walk away from the enormous amount of money he stands to make next year even if it isn't the ideal situation? I mean he's going to get an enormous shoe deal after that high profile shoe blowout earlier this year and he's going to get paid whatever the #1 pick NBA scale is.

Also for a basketball situation it might be the best possible landing spot for him if the new GM in NO is semi-competent and gets a haul of young players and picks to put around Zion fr AD to grow and flips Drue Holiday for a smaller haul but other useful young assets and or picks.

Yeah, it may not be his first choice, but I think there's very little chance he doesn't sign with the Pelicans

Make that 34-4 after the Warriors complete the four-game sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Now, the Dubs have 10 days to prepare for the Eastern Conference winner between the Bucks and the Raptors who are deadlocked at 2-2.

I know it's pretty hard to compare eras, and the Celtics with Russell went to 10 Finals in a row, but this Warriors team has to be the most talented group in NBA history, right?

Itís insane to have Steph and KD on the same team, alone. The rest is just rubbing it in.
