I think the winners so far are the Warriors and the Lakers.

There are rumors that once Dwight Howard negotiates his release from the Nets that the Warriors might try to sign him. I find that hard to believe due to the monies, but if he keeps most of his money from the Nets then signing with the Warriors to make up the difference might work and also give him a chance to win a title and salvage his some of reputation as a bad teammate.

The NBA has become an absolute joke. 98% of the league is irrelevant. If you're a fan of anyone not named Golden St, Lakers, and maybe Boston or Houston why should you care? why invest time following your team? why waste money on tickets, merch etc? You have zero chance to compete for a title. Zero. Not even a prayer. Thats also not changing anytime soon.

The NBA would be better if they just contracted 26 teams. Just give us a league with GS, LAL, Houston, Boston and maybe Philly. Nobody else matters even a little bit.

It's not a hard cap. Teams can go over the cap to re-sign their own free agents.

It's July 9, 2018 and I can safely say the final 4 NBA teams in June 2019 will be the Lakers, Warriors, Celtics and Sixers. Zero drama in this league.

Including Philly kind of refutes your point. They were historically bad just a couple of years ago.
