Enjoy it while it lasts because unless the above changes, their place in the standings will be short lived.
Best coached Isles team in 20 years. Going to suprise you. Maybe not a first place team but will be better than expected.

I thought they were a bubble team before the season.

Their results have been better than expected while their actual performance had been worse. Trust me, I’m hoping they live in 7-9th place purgatory but they’ll have to improve their play to even get to that point unless you think that they’re going to continue to shoot at the rate that they’re shooting at and Greiss is actually vezina quality.

Lehner has actually been better than Greiss.

2018 Hockey Hall of Fame Class announced: Inductees include Martin Brodeur, Martin St. Louis, Gary Bettman and Willie O'Ree
    https://sports.yahoo.com/2018-hockey...143042320.html

I'm glad that O'Ree finally got his due to be inducted in Hockey's famous shrine in Toronto.
Brodeur is a very easy choice. Bettman is questionable since he was involved in three NHL lockouts, but somehow has made up for them.

They probably figure they can't re-sign him now that they have Tavares, so why not see if he can bring back an asset or two instead of losing him for nothing.

Peter Chiarelli is really the one who needed to go in Edmonton. He (briefly) made Garth Snow look competent.

I think Jim Benning also (briefly) made Garth Snow look competent.

Nylander is important, so long as the Leafs can keep Marner and Matthews.

Latest expansion franchise awarded to Seattle, will start play in the 2021/2022 season. One of the owners is Jerry Bruckheimer, so presumably goals will be met with explosions and pyrotechnics.

Not only Seattle gets an NHL franchise. In 3-4 years time in my opinion, the NBA will also come back to the Emerald City.

But the NHL should be contracting, not expanding. Sigh.

Why do you think they should be contracting? In general teams are doing pretty well.

Maybe not expanding, but relocating. Instead of creating two new teams they shoudl have just moved Florida and Arizona.

For sure on the moves, agree there. I think expansion can work as the Nordiques could come back, I also think Hamilton could support a team, even though Toronto will never release it's grip on all of Southern Ontario.

Yes, Quebec City should have a team, but the problem is keeping east and west balanced. It's not fair that it's easier to make the playoffs in the west (until Seattle).
