2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
Being called up Thursday to make the spot start.
I, for one, am tremendously excited to see him.

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
I know he only threw 50 pitches (intentionally) on Sunday, but I still think it's odd they are using him on 3 days rest when they could have easily given him the extra day. I'm sure it's about lining up other guys but still a bit odd.

I give him the New York Spanglish name of Jonathan Loisaida.

I was right that it made no sense to start him on 3 days rest, that was a mistaken announcement by NY and he is actually starting on full rest on Friday. Onward fellow Jonathan!

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
Don't expect him in the rotation permanently this year he has never pitched more than 80 innings a season.
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Loiasiga is actually pitching Friday, German on Thursday, per Boone. Corrected the order he announced earlier.

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
I agree about the extra day - Saturday but I like Boone giving the extra day. I am always excited to see a new prospect but if he didn't pitch Sunday it would have around 12 days since his last start so I think this is good. (took his 1st L on Sunday but he probably knew and maybe looked at this as practice)

I just don't understand skipping Severino Friday on full rest. He is our ace right?

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
He's the ace. But is also on pace to blow past 200 innings and he'll anchor a deep postseason run. An extra day of rest in middle of June is fine. I expect Boone to regulate his workload as season continues. A skip of the turn here and there. They need him healthy and fresh as possible in October.

Wonder what his PC will be. They've been extremely careful with him in the minors.
I'd guess 80, which on a good night means ~5 innings.Calmer than you are

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
They've been capping Loaisiga's innings in the minors; 5 max no matter the pitch count. Likely done to preserve his innings bullets in case of big league usage.
For his major league debut, they would be thrilled if he gave them 5 quality innings.

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
It's a shame he's on an innings limit. Even if he turns out to be a stud, there are only so many innings he's going to throw this year.

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
6 man rotation may be the solution then.
But that's getting way ahead of ourselves. Let's see him against a not so great Rays hitting lineup. After that, if they stay on rotation (depends how they handle the DH with Washington on Monday), he gets the Mariners on 06/20, and the Phils on the 25th. Both lineups there will be much stronger tests for him.

Pumped to see him get a look at ML hitters.
Wish he could just stay up and we could loosen the leash re: innings limits.

He had a strikeout and a putout in his first career inning.

Re: 2018 Jonathan Loaisiga Performance Thread
He's really filthy and extremely enjoyable to watch pitch. He's held his velocity from 95-97 throughout the entirety of the first four innings. Very impressive showing for Loaisiga, especially pitching through/around the abnormal amount of walks.

3 legitimate pitches with command. Had no idea his change was that good.
Not too worried about the walks.Calmer than you are
