Is Joe Girardi waiting in the wings?

Since the Mets are horrible and the manager usually gets blamed, does anyone wonder if Joe is a possible replacement?

Ahhh, remember when the Mets were 11-1 and were primed to take over New York.

Too early I think as yet... I think Alderson is probably on the hotter seat now than Calloway..
His drafts have been awful, his farm system is barren, and the team is in free fall.. all of the problems with injuries remain..

How much of that is Sandy I don't know, but since they went to the series a few years back they have been trending downward fast and are about to be in a division with two very good young teams..

edit: also probably belongs in the NYM thread..
I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

I'll make it happen if they give up DeGrom

I don’t think he’s that desperate for a manager job. I wouldn’t want anything to do with that dumpster fire right now.

I also don't think he would want to manage the Mets - I think the job that brings him back to managing is the Cubs gig.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

My guess is he's in the wings for the 2019 White Sox job. They have a strong farm system and I doubt they're committed to Rick Renteria for very long.

Obviously, Renteria is a stopgap. They weren’t willing to Buyeria.

The White Sox may want a field manager, but the Tigers were willing to make a garden hire.

I was spelling it out for the folks who didn’t get it.

    Okay I’m lying.

I remember listening to WFAN when they were 11-1 and a caller was ripping Benigno and Roberts for “not celebrating enough”. Hoo boy...

Also, I’m glad the Yankees are being managed by brains vs. emotions. I went from lamenting the departure of Todd Frazier to forgetting he was in the league.

"Listen, bro. It's too early in the season to get excited, bro. I've been a Mets and Jets fan for a long time, bro, so I know disappointment, bro.

I agree. His Mets fandom used to have a dickish edge to it (anyone who remembers how he conducted himself in the 2006 postseason knows what I mean) but he smoothed that out long ago. He's one of their few genuine assets.

It would be a good move by the Mets. Girardi can manage.
