There is no reason for the Yankees to be carrying 13 pitchers if they aren't going to use them.

AJ Cole was added to the NYY roster on 4/24 - as of today, two appearances for four innings.

David Hale was added back to the NYY roster on 5/2, then was DFA'd yesterday after one appearance and three innings pitched.

Absolutely useless pieces. This team can easily get by with one pitcher for these two spots going forward.

So stoked he's back up and getting a chance. Hopefully he lights up personal favorite Danny Duffy.

He should not. In fact, Hicks should be a late-inning defensive specialist and not much more.

Good post. Clint will learn fast because we have Judge, Stanton, Torres, Didi, etc. I only am concerned on his K% which is still high in minors at 29% and CP posted 30% last year. (I looked at comps and think Gardy is 25% highest for him , and Hicks 22%) BB% will improve with experience.

What he should have said was "I am a robot. I only want to play in MLB if the team wants me to, otherwise I prefer to play in AAA, as low salaries and insanely long bus rides are my favorite. I will now deactivate and sit in the corner quietly until they need me." That's how a real pro deals with the media. I'd say he's young and he'll learn, but that rebellious hair and cocky grin are bad signs.

He doesn’t have to be a robot, but it would serve him well to pick up some pointers from the Crash Davis interview manual.

Robot is the only 100% safe method. Having a personality is not a team concept and will be used against you.

Really, the Crash Davis interview advice is to be a robot. Why are we so intent on athletes being boring/mock-selfless/homogenized?

Exactly. There's a middle ground. Gleyber and Andj get it. For a guy who has done absolutely nothing, it's better to play humble and team oriented.

I wish more professional athletes had actual personalities. The dude already cut off his hair to please grumpy old men like the ones posting here, but some people won't rest until he gets a lobotomy also, I guess.

Its not even personality. Its this silly idea that there is a right way to act in professional sport. This ancient mentality of treating sport like its the military.

Its fun and games. Its more akin to the circus than 99% of peoples everyday professional life...treat it as such.

I honestly don't see anything at all wrong with that Frazier comment. He's not speaking in platitudes, but he's also not being offensive or selfish - I think that comment IS the middle ground.

Also, Gleyber on day 1 of Spring Training after returning from injury. Michael Jordan returns t-shirt. You'd have savaged Frazier for this. Like, probably literally tried to find him and kill him.

"didn't want to go back down without getting at least one at-bat to push for a spot." It's what Brian Regan would call the 'me monster.' Frazier getting a spot isn't what's important to the team. The frame of mind needs to be 'whatever is best for the team.' Even if he doesn't believe it, he needs to learn to say it.

Bae wearing a shirt doesn't mean much. Guy says the right things. So does Andj. It was something that stuck out in ST when questioned about their spots.

I see your point about him answering questions in the first person, I just personally don't see any problematic level of selfishness in what Frazier said. He was asked specifically about potentially being sent down after the Nats series got rained out after finally be called up following a highly tumultuous start to his year.

He'll learn the platitudes eventually, but I've yet to see something about him that's made me think the millennial-diva tag that came with his acquisition from CLE is anything to even think twice about. There's definitely some vanity to him as well as a lack of awareness, but I don't see even remotely resembling a burgeoning "bad apple" or "selfish cancer".

So Torres wears a ME ME ME ME ME shirt, and that's OK, because reasons.

Are you sure you're not the guy heading off Regan's 2 wisdom tooth story at the pass with the machine gun?

I saw Arlo Guthrie with a couple of his kids in concert the other day. As an intro to "It Hurts Me Too," he talked about listening to his dad's collection of 78s, and about going to see Sonnie Terry and Brownie McGhee whenever possible.

Then he added, "But you can't play the blues when you’re 13 years old. You have to wait until you’re older and grouchier. I'm so there."
