    2018 Chad Green Performance Thread

His stats are fine but his stuff does not look the same to me this year. Seems like he is missing his location and hanging a lot of sliders.

He's getting hurt with his slider so he need to some more tilt on that pitch.
To all, life is too short, enjoy the baseball season even those that hate me.

It seems like he should throw about 95 percent fastballs as pretty much no one can touch that.

He has good numbers this year (slightly worse than last year), but his stuff doesn't seem the same at all. He used to get a ton of swing and misses on his fastball. Based completely on the eye-test, he hasn't been getting nearly as many swings and misses this season.

Both his zone and out of zone contact percentage is up between 5% and 7% this year.

    Agreed.

He's obviously still very good, but he was damn near elite last season.

You were right about D Rob and this is the same with Green. He is pitching more. Boone has to start going to the other pitchers because they will be tired. D Rob is at 50% and Green is at 43%. When he can't go to Chapman we see D Rob (not good). Got to stop this Betances - Green - D Rob - Chapman at this rate. I know Joe G did this 7-8-9 but he always gave the players a rest when he could.

I truly believe our mistake was NOT trying more in ST to see if Green could have been a SP (only 2 early games).

Lastly, D Rob game percentage has gone up to 50% since you made that observation.

Our pen is our strength (watch Astros and BoSox after our game) and we need to save this for end of the season. I know our rotation but we have to use the other relievers. Bring up Carroll.

Yep, thatís exactly what I said in the first post of this thread. Itís not like he is pitching poorly, but heís not the same pitcher we saw last year.

His ERA is down to 1.95, which is the lowest it has been since after he pitched on May 1.

Why do people still talk about this guy like he's some kind of dominator? He's mediocre at best.

green always seems to have nice stats but he always gives up big home runs like today and the grand slam by lindor last year playoff...

Before today, he had given up one earned in a month. 6:1 k:bb ratio for th season.

If that's mediocre, then dominant must be perfection. Pitchers give up runs...some less than others.

How is today's home run anywhere close to the grand slam in the ALDS last year?

    Lol, is this a joke?

I swear, it's like some Yankee fans expect a reliever to never ever give up runs or have a bad game.

That is mere coincidence. Means nothing.

The more disturbing issue is that he has been scored upon in 7 games so far. That is off his pace from last year.

Ken Rosenthal (no blue check mark) has reported that Cashman has cloned Marino Rivera and intends to have an all Mariano all the time bullpen in the not to distant future.
