    2018 David Hale Performance Thread

The Yankees called up David Hale, who had 5.52 ERA and .349 opponents' batting average in 3 starts with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He is 30, and he made his MLB debut on September 13, 2013. He has a 4.48 career ERA in 66 games, of which 20 were starts, for Atlanta and Colorado. His last MLB game was April 19, 2016. https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...haleda02.shtml has his statistics. Jace Peterson was DFAed for the second time, and the Yankees are back up to 8 relievers and 3 bench players.

Hale will probably be DFAed before they go on their next road trip.

We should start a pool as to how long until he is DFAd, I say Wednesday.

Edit: Haha, cross post with Yankees1962, but yeah.

I can't predict the day, but it will be moments after the next time he pitches 2+ innings.

I predict he NEVER manages to pitch 2+ innings in his Yankee career. Gasoline, meet fire,

I suppose he would pitch garbage time for that many innings. I doubt he'll pitch for a short outing.

Garbage time is his reason for being called up.

5.52 ERA at Scranton and that is the best pitcher they can call up?

Technically, I was even more right on this one, although (partially) for the wrong reasons. Still, right is right.

He'll be missed. Hopefully he and the Jace catch on with some other unsuspecting team.

Maybe the Yankees just keep finding these awful pitchers and pick them up just to pitch 2 and/or+ innings in blow out wins, then dump them. It costs league minimum for one game and saves the starters and the pen. Genius.

He only regrets that he had but two innings to give the Yankees.

Since the last post in this topic, he allowed 4 runs in 3 innings for Minnesota on April 27, and he was designated for assignment the next day. The Yankees added him to both rosters and called him up on May 2. He was designated for the third time (second time by the Yankees) on May 15. He had a good start for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at Buffalo yesterday with 4 2/3 innings and 1 run allowed from a home run.

Perhaps he can be recalled soon for a third Yankee DFA. Somewhere, Garrett Jones is smiling.
