If there is one area of the team where we are best built for an injury, it is the bullpen. Robertson/Betances/Green will all be able to step into bigger roles.

I'd rather have Chappy miss some time now and heal up for the stretch run if its a serious enough injury.

I hear you but we can ill afford to burn them out any more than we have to. It just seems like the injury bug is rearing its ugly head.

That’s harsh. Flaherty isn’t always wrong, he’s just always boring.

I'm sure Flaherty's evaluation of the situation is based on the body language of Chapman, Boone, the trainer, and Meredith.

Well, if one can believe Boone ...

Of course, I "might" be available too. If I could pitch. And if I were in Toronto.

I would put this in the Trade Deadline thread in ITL, but you can't embed stuff up there.

It will be interesting to see what his next appearance is like.

Re: 2018 Aroldis Chapman Peformance Thread

He seemed fine for the first batter. It looked like he lost his release point and just couldn't find it again. Maybe he wasn't properly warmed for not knowing whether or not he was going to be in the game with a growing lead in the 8th. I don't think it was anything more than that.

Hopefully just rust from the time off. All relievers have an awful appearance from time to time.

He threw 11 straight balls for two walks and a HBP, was sitting 94-97, and missing by feet.

And did anybody say anything about it in the postgame show? Like offer an excuse, or an explanation?

They need to put this man on the DL.

Sounds like a chronic condition. I don't know if the DL would help any.

If pitching this bad is based on save situation then the problem is even worse! That would be self-serving non-professionalism. Not likely.

It was obviously in his head. Boone did him no favor leaving him in so long.

Won't help... I have had knee tendonitis. The fixes are very long term rest (i.e. see you next year) or surgery (again, see you next year).

I am the opposite of an athlete, I am an engineer who sits at a desk all day, and even for me it took months of rest, even avoiding things like golf and very basic lower body workouts, to get it where it did not hurt.

There is really no way to get it better this year, at least if it actually is what they say and similar to what I have..
I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

But, other than that, he was solid.

Hasn’t pitched since the disastrous outing last Saturday. Color me concerned.
